3 Virtual Disaster Recovery (VDR) Service Disaster Recovery is the ability to fully recover your IT systems in the event of any disaster, be it a natural disaster or basic human error. Our service enables businesses to recover their environment as normal, minimising the impact of any down time to your employees, suppliers and customers. This lack of disruption is achieved through maintaining a duplicated copy of local data stored offsite, rapid recovery of data and regular testing of backup and recovery strategies. Solution Overview BTL have made huge investment in infrastructure by choosing market leading products. By combining Asigra Cloud Backup, Netapp and VMware, BTL provide a remote DR solution allowing businesses to continue to function with minimum downtime. Netapp and VMware provide maximum performance in virtualized environments having worked closely together for many years. Asigra enables you to achieve your Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) at lower costs whilst proving your DR plan effectiveness without disrupting production systems. The following steps are always adhered to for customers with single or multiple server / site environments. The standard protocols are: 1. Encrypted data is backed up into BTL s primary vault. 2. In the event of disaster being invoked BTL will recover the Asigra DS-Client into a dedicated virtual environment within the primary data centre. 3. Once recovered BTL will restore all required servers in to the secure VMware environment 4. BTL will then make this network available via a secure VPN or preferred method of connection 5. Backups are up to date as the backup service continues whilst in the hosted Virtual Disaster Recovery environment. 6. BTL assists with the recovery of data back on to any new hardware as and when required by the customer. 7. Servers are powered off when finished and deleted off BTL s VM platform. BTL UK BTL USA

4 Virtual Business Continuity (VBC) Service Business Continuity is the ability to maintain business operations in the event of loss to your production environment. With the increase of businesses moving their IT infrastructures to Virtualised platforms such as VMware, BTL offer a solution that can keep your business running in the event of total data loss following a disaster. Keeping downtime to a bare minimum can pacify the impact of a resulting outage. BTL offer their Virtual Business Continuity service to combat such events. This premium service achieves RTOs and RPOs in the following ways:! Protected servers in a warm standby state! Always online and available! Remote connectivity! Unlimited user access! Continuation of live backups The backup process and method of recovery for VBC: 1. Encrypted data is backed up into BTL s primary vault in Nottingham, always available for restore 2. A new type of backup set is created to run alongside the granular file or application backups allowing entire servers to be snapshotted and sent offsite 3. Once a backup completes they are instantly and automatically recovered from the Online Backup system to the Virtual Business Continuity system. Both are within BTL s data centre. 4. Servers are in a warm state and can be updated regularly through the existing backup methods 5. In the event of a disaster, BTL will make this network available via a pre-tested secure VPN or preferred method of connection 6. Backups are up to date as the backup service continues whilst in the hosted VBC environment 7. BTL assist with the recovery of data back on to any new hardware as and when required the customer 8. All remote connections are now blocked to these servers for security purposes. The VBC service includes one test per year as part of the cost. All steps of the test are fully documented to ensure that a live recovery process is as straightforward as possible. During this testing period, your protected servers are recovered and made available for you to access via a secure connection. The recovery process is timed to provide a realistic RTO, so in the event of a DR you have a realistic expectancy of your downtime. There are various methods of connection once the process is invoked or during the testing phase. BTL cater for any requirement via VPN etc. As BTL own and manage their communications links, they can provide unlimited bandwidth during a DR invocation meaning users will not be hindered by poor internet connectivity.
