1 South Texas College Associate Degree Nursing Program ELSEVIER HESI Admission Assessment (A2) Test The Admission Assessment (A² ) is a computer based, proctored, standardized assessment and must be taken as part of the application criteria prior to applying to the Associated Degree Nursing Program. The A² results are used to assess the academic and personal readiness of prospective students for higher education. TO REGISTER & PAY FOR THE ADMISSION ASSESSMENT (A2) VERSION I EXAM: 1. Simply log-in to nah.southtexascollege.edu 2. Under Program Resources click on Associate Degree Nursing 3. Click on ADMISSION ASSESSMENT A2 Test (HESI Admission) Please read all the following seven pages of instructions carefully and then follow the link at (on page 3) to create your Evolve account,register, and pay for your exam or to simply view test date availability. Once you register through OUR website, you will receive your Confirmation Notice with your User Name and Password. You will receive your Eligibility ID # within 1-3 business days of Elsevier s receipt of your request. You will then be able to Log In and will be prompted to enter the following Department ID SOUTH TEXAS COLLEGE-A.D.N. DISTANCE DEPARTMENT ID: (valid thru 08/31/2015) Students must make a minimum score of 75% on each graded test sections of (Math, English, and Science) and a cumulative score of 75% or higher in order to pass the test. There are six (6) tests total to complete: under the Science section, only Anatomy & Physiology section is to be completed. The Learner Profile section is required but not graded (personality type and learner style) and is used for diagnostic purposes. Students must log in through the website at to register for the A2 exam (Version I or Version 2) or simply view all testing dates and locations available. If you are ready to schedule and pay for your exam, you may proceed to follow the prompts and complete the process. Test scores are available immediately upon completion on the date of testing and are valid for only two (2) years. Students can repeat the test ONLY if they score under 75% on a required test section and must repeat that section within the same eligibility period as the first exam. You must wait 2-3 weeks from the first exam date to register for VERSION 2 Admission Assessment test. Scores on both Version 1 (V1) and Version 2 (V2) may be combined within the same eligibility period only. If you do not have one you can create it at: A. Click on the Register for HESI link located under Quick Links B. Click on the REGISTER button and follow the remaining steps to create your Evolve student account: Register For Your Exam Login to Evolve with your Evolve Student Account. Click on My Exams & Remediation at the Evolve homepage:

SOUTH TEXAS COLLEGE-ADN DISTANCE Department ID: **Do not use the department ID as your student ID when setting up your Evolve account Select the appropriate exam Verify your profile information is correct Confirm information by selecting the check box at the bottom of the page. Click the Submit button

You will not be admitted into the testing lab if there is any discrepancy between what is listed on your Evolve student account and what is presented on your ID. You will receive an Confirmation Notice indicating that you may schedule your exam. Please carefully review the information contained in your Confirmation Notice. If any of the information is incorrect, or if the information has changed, please contact Elsevier Review and Testing at exameligibility@elsevier.com. Failure to do so could result in forfeiture of your testing appointment and associated fees. PLEASE NOTE: You will receive your Eligibility ID within 1-3 business days of our receipt of your eligibility request.

6 Evolve Reach Exam Registration ADA Procedures: 1. Student must provide all special accommodation documents to the school of choice for review and approval at the school level. 2. School will then submit the request for accommodations, via , to (Please review the notice below and include all information in the request.) *IMPORTANT: The information provided below must be the same as it appears on your government issued photo ID. You will not be admitted into the testing lab if there is any discrepancy between what it is entered into the system (by Elsevier) and what is presented on your ID. Please only submit your Eligibility ID request once. Elsevier will review the ADA request to ensure compliance with our testing policies. Upon approval, Elsevier will provide the school with authorization and pricing information. 4. School will need to provide written acceptance of conditions, before the student can be scheduled to test at Prometric with special accommodations.

7 PRODUCT INFORMATION HESI ADMISSION ASSESSMENT EXAM (A2) Assess applicants basic learning skills and gauge future classroom success The HESI Admission Assessment Exam consists of seven academic exams, as well as a personality profile that identifies the individual applicant s learning style. Individual scores are provided for each exam, and the scores are combined to provide subscores in these areas: SELECT ONE OR ALL OF THE AVAILABLE EXAMS ENGLISH LANGUAGE Reading Comprehension (55 items*) Provides reading scenarios in order to measure reading comprehension, identifying the main idea, finding meaning of words in context, passage comprehension, making logical inferences, etc. Recommended time: 60 minutes Vocabulary and General Knowledge (55 items*) Contains vocabulary terms that are commonly used in both general English speaking settings and in health care fields. Recommended time: 50 minutes Grammar (55 items*) Contains basic grammar, including parts of speech, important terms and their uses, commonly occurring grammatical errors, etc. Recommended time: 50 minutes MATH Basic Math Skills (55 items*) Focuses on math skills needed for health care fields, including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals, ratio and proportion, household measures, general math facts, etc. Recommended time: 50 minutes *Includes 50 scoring and 5 pilot items CONVENIENT ONLINE REPORTING SYSTEM Rank students by: SCIENCE Biology (30 items**) Covers biology basics, water, biological molecules, metabolism, cells, cellular respiration, photosynthesis, etc. Recommended time: 25 minutes Chemistry (30 items**) Contains test items that cover matter, chemical equations and reactions, the periodic table, atomic structure, nuclear chemistry, chemical bonding, etc. Recommended time: 25 minutes Anatomy and Physiology (30 items**) Provides coverage of general terminology and anatomical structures and systems.
