Prepares students to assist registered pharmacists and take the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) national examination. Graduates are eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the North Dakota State Board of Pharmacy. Accredited by the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP). Students may choose to repeat or audit coursework to update content and skills. - Requirements H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R: Soldiers who completed training (AIT, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course) more than five years ago would need evidence of keeping current in the profession such as working full-time and completing continuing education credits to be awarded credit for their courses. This determination will be made on an individual, case-by-case basis. - Requirement D. Beginning Fall 2010, all new NDSCS students are required to take an "FYE 101 Science of Success" orientation class. Online students will take the class online during their first semester of enrollment. It is a practical one-credit class meant to provide the tools and skills necessary to get a strong start in the transition to college life. Topics covered in the class include time management, money management, budgeting, study skills, wellness, critical thinking and test anxiety. To waive the class, students need to have 30 college credits with 2.0 or better GPA average or enough 68Q Army training applicable to the specific program of study and totaling 30 credits or more. A form will need to be completed to request a waiver. Soldiers who have had less the 30 college credit hours or have a GPA lower than 2.0 will need to take the FYE 101 class as part of their graduation requirements for any NDSCS program. Contact Distance Education if you have questions or need a waiver form. - All AP, CLEP, and DSST standardized test scores must meet minimum scores set by North Dakota State College of Science. - DANTES Independent Study Catalog courses may be used for general education course, if applicable, and if approved by the college's Registrar's Office prior to enrollment. SELECTING THE RIGHT CAREER DEGREE PLAN There are three kinds of degree plans: (1) Army Career Degree: Typical civilian degrees that match the specialty skills of an, (2) Army Degree General: Typical civilian degrees with more general content, and (3) Army Degree Specialized: Degrees especially crafted to accommodate the uniquely military or otherwise not-easily-matched-to-civilian-courses skills of an. CAREER DEGREE The Army Career Degree is based on college degrees that uniquely relate to an 's skills and contain specific college courses that match its competencies. (Example: A computer studies degree in which recommended credit for military learning is assigned to college courses typically found in a computer studies major.) CAREER DEGREE GENERAL CAREER DEGREE GENERAL The Army Career Degree General is based on college degrees that match the recommended credit from Army learning experiences to their requirements in more general ways. Military credit recommendations are assigned to one or more general categories (e.g., a "Skill Area", "Career Component", "Professional Focus", "Emphasis", "Aviation Maintenance" or another broad subject area) instead of to specific college courses uniquely identified with the 's special competencies. Possibly useful to soldiers, but less effective in mapping competencies to civilian college courses normally associated with their specialties. The degree may have a General Studies, Management, or other broad title, possibly useful to soldiers, but not uniquely related to the 's special competencies (Example: A computer specialist matched to a degree in Management or General Studies rather than computer studies). D CAREER CAREER DEGREE DEGREE GENERAL SPECIALIZED The Army Career Degree Specialized has many of the same qualities as the General degree except its title and major courses may be predominantly military in nature or are otherwise different than a typical civilian course for the same skill. 30 continued 2. BROADER GENERAL DEGREE CHOICES A number of colleges offer flexible degrees that combine military credit and general education to form flexible, efficient-for-soldiers degrees. If it is not important that the soldier s degree closely resemble a civilian one in the occupational specialty (i.e., be comprised of major-area courses normally associated with the field), such a program might be appropriate. Many General Studies network curriculums found in the SOC Degree Network System-2 fit this model. Examples of Internet accessible distance learning programs of this kind can be found at: and others (refer to the SOC Degree Network System-2 Handbook, Locations by Network). 3. WILL YOU CONTINUE FOR A BACHELOR'S DEGREE? Some s have bachelor's degree plans you can pursue directly without an interim associate degree. With this approach you have no transfer concerns, but if you stop short of completion you have no interim degree. An associate degree's title (e.g., AA, AS, AAS, etc.) alone will not ensure successful transfer to a bachelor's degree program. It depends more on the correct matching of the 2- and 4-year programs' course content. Read the Degree Objective statement on the degree plan carefully. If questions remain, raise them with the bachelor's degree program to which you intend to transfer. It is important to select the right courses based on considerations like: Are they intended to transfer? Do they have a place in your bachelor's degree curriculum?
