1 Allegany College of Maryland Transfer Notes FROSTBURG STATE UNIVERSITY MAILING ADDRESS: Frostburg State University 101 Braddock Road Frostburg, MD ADMISSIONS: GENERALINFORMATION: WEB-PAGE: TRANSFER ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FSU determines transfer admission based upon the following criteria: A. Less than 24 credits of transferable credits, as determined by FSU. 1. Cumulative GPA from all college transcripts must be a minimum of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. 2. Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended sent to FSU Admissions Office. 3. High school transcripts and SAT sces sent to FSU Admissions Office. OR B. 24 me transferable credits, as determined by FSU. 1. Cumulative GPA must be a minimum of Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended must be sent to FSU Admissions Office. No me than 70 credits may be accepted f transfer credit from two-year community colleges. RECOMMENDED ACM PROGRAMS Frostburg is the most popular transfer university with ACM students. As a result, many of our transfer programs have been geared toward transfer to FSU. 2 - Health Promotion - Histy - Infmation Systems - Mathematics - Nursing - Physics/Physical Science - Political Science - Psychology - Social Science - Social Wk - Sociology - Spanish DUAL ADMISSIONS Allegany College students have the opptunity to apply f dual admission to Frostburg State University. Students may apply to FSU while attending ACM. While enrolled at ACM, Dual Admission students have access to services at FSU including academic advising, financial aid infmation and career advising, along with the use of library resources and other on-campus facilities at FSU. The FSU Office of Admissions will provide newsletters and infmation about campus events and other academic programs. Students may apply f Dual Admission as early as their seni year of high school but no later than the completion of 30 college-level credit hours at ACM. In addition, students who have demonstrated an interest in a particular maj will have a contact person in that FSU department. That individual will wk with students to make them aware of admission requirements f that particular program. Students who have been accepted into the Dual Admission Program must maintain continuous enrollment at ACM and must meet FSU admissions requirements, including grade point average f their intended maj. FSU will send an official FSU application to the student pri to the semester they plan to officially enroll at FSU. The application fee will be waived. An official transcript from ACM will be required. Visit the ACM Admissions Office, the Student Success Center, Pennsylvania Student Services Office f an application. APPLICATION DATES
3 Students applying f the Fall Semester should apply between September 15 and August 1. Those students wishing to participate in pre-registration and applying f state financial aid and scholarships must apply befe March 1. F the Spring Semester, students should apply between September 1 and December 1. Students wishing to participate in pre-registration should apply befe October 1. GENERAL TRANSFER INFORMATION All students transferring from community colleges will be required to complete an upper-level writing course at FSU to satisfy the graduation requirement. Only official transcripts, ones sent directly to the FSU Admissions Office, will be recognized f transfer credit. FSU only recognizes credits earned at regionally accredited institutions. Allegany College of Maryland is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. FSU will review transcripts and send students a course-by-course evaluation at the time of admission. Students, who have not successfully completed English 101 a college-level Math will be required to complete diagnostic placement tests in reading, English, and mathematics. SUGGESTED GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES The following ACM courses satisfy the lower-level General Education Program (GEP) f students, who entered college Fall 2005 later. Technology Fluency One of the following is recommended: Cmsc 101 Computer Literacy Cmat 207 Graphics Although these courses are not required as a part of the General Education Program, demonstration of technology fluency is an undergraduate degree requirement. Click here f a printable list of suggested general education courses RE-ADMISSION TO THE UNIVERSITY AFTER BEING ACADEMICALLY SUSPENDED When a student has been academically suspended from the University, he/she may not apply f re-admission to FSU f at least two semesters. The summer session is considered as a semester. A student cannot repeat the Ce Skills (English Composition Mathematics) at another institution if he/she earned a D, F, FX, CS, WF in the course(s) while enrolled at Frostburg State University. An exception will be granted if the student has not attended FSU f at least five years and has earned an associate bachel s degree at another institution during his/her absence. Re-admission to Frostburg will be based upon the student s previous academic recd at FSU and the student s appeal letter. Grades in courses at ACM may be cited as justification f re-admission. MAJOR COURSE REQUIREMENTS
6 1. Check the FSU academic catalog to obtain a complete list of courses required by each maj refer to the Recommended Transfer Program section of ARTSYS. 2. Consult with your advis, the Student Success Center, Pennsylvania Student Services Office f course transferability infmation appropriate courses f a maj. Also check the Courses Equivalency section of ARTSYS. 3. No me than half of the credits required f a maj may be transferred to FSU to meet the graduation requirements. 4. Many departments require a C grade better in specific courses to satisfaction of maj and min requirements. Consult the FSU academic catalog under the maj requirements. A minimum of 2.0 average in the maj requirements is needed f graduation. Some majs may require a higher average. Graduates of the dental hygiene, medical labaty technology, nursing, occupational therapy assistant, physical therapy assistant, radiologic technology, respiraty therapy, and therapeutic massage programs are eligible to participate in this maj.
