SPRING SEMESTER: EMERGENCY MEDICAL SCIENCE BRIDGING PROGRAM. This program is designed to allow a currently certified non-degreed EMT- Paramedic to earn a two-year Associate of Applied Science Degree in Emergency Medical Science by completing the EMS Bridging courses and all other related and general education courses required for this degree. Scheduling is flexible and it is an open-entry program. You may enter any semester. Program is available through: Guilford Technical Community College, Jamestown; Randolph Community College, Asheboro; Rockingham Community College, Wentworth; and Surry Community College, Dobson. EMS professionals soon may earn a BS degree in Emergency Medical Care without leaving their home communities, thanks to a collaborative initiative between Western Carolina University and three North Carolina community colleges. The program is open to applicants who have completed an AAS degree in Emergency Medical Science. Western will deliver its core EMC program over the Internet, so participants can access their courses from home, EMS base, or local community college. Elective courses will be completed at a nearby community college. Required labs will be held during one intensive two-week summer session in Cullowhee.
