1 GE Healthcare Life Sciences How to Download a GE Healthcare License File This is a short instruction on how to collect a license file for a software product using the GE Healthcare Life Science licensing system. In the appendix is a general description on how to find the correct Ethernet address.

3 Download the License File 1. Open Internet Explorer and go to the web address 2. Enter your access code obtained with your purchase and click Login 3. Click on Collect License AC 3

4 4. Mark your license in the list and click on Activate 5. Enter values for fields mared with a * and click Next AC

5 6. Click on Add New Host 7. Enter your Ethernet id (a.k.a. Machine id, mac-id and physical address) at the Server Hosts field and click OK. See appendix on how to find the right Ethernet id AC 5

6 8. Mark your host in the list and click Next 9. A summary page appears. Check the Fulfill Count field, if it is filled in click Next. If it is empty enter number of license files you will download, it must be less than or equal to Unallocated Copies, then click next AC

7 10. Generate page appears, press Generate 11. Mark your product in the list and click Save to File 12. Click Save AC 7

8 13. Save the file in a temporary folder or the desktop. Transfer the file to a relevant folder later, using Windows Explorer (not the web browser). The file name may be changed freely as long as the file extension remains *.lic. A floating license (using a license server) is normally placed in a folder created during installation of the license server, normally: C:\Program Files\GE Healthcare\eLicense server\licenses A node locked license is normally free to place in any folder, but that may vary between software products. The file can be moved to another folder on the same computer as long as it s possible to point out from the software product. Congratulations! You have now successfully downloaded your license file. Click Logout to complete the procedure AC

9 Start using the License The procedure on how to start using the license file with a software product may differ between the products. Below are two general descriptions, one for a floating license and one for a node locked license. For product specific details, please refer to the documentation for each product. Floating License A floating license requires the license server for license handling 1. Start installation of the e-license server by starting the setup.exe. This is supplied with the software product and placed in a folder named license folder. 2. Follow the instructions for the installation 3. Start the license server administration tool (a.k.a. LMTOOLS): Start->All Programs->GE Healthcare->GE Healthcare Software Licensing Server-> License Server Admin 4. Select tab Start/Stop/ReRead 5. Click Start Server 6. Click ReRead License File 7. Start your software product. 8. A dialog appears where you can select to use a node locked or a floating license, choose floating 9. Enter the name of the computer where the license server is installed. Enter localhost If it is the same computer as for the software product. 10. Done. Node Locked license A node locked license does not require a license server. 1. Start your software product. 2. A dialog appears where you can select to use a node locked or a floating license, choose node locked. 3. Browse for the license file or enter the complete path including the license file name. 4. 10 Appendix How to Find your Ethernet Address Several GE Healthcare software products present the Ethernet address during installation, start up or by using a separate tool. Here is a general description on how to find the ethernet address without using any of these tools. Important. Use the Ethernet address for the computer where the license file will be placed. The placement may depend on the license type: 1. Concurrent license (a.k.a. floating), use Ethernet address for the computer where the license server is installed. 2. Node locked license, use Ethernet address for the computer where the software application is installed. Get Ethernet address 1. Start->Run 2. Type cmd and click OK AC

11 3. In the Command Window type ipconfig /all and press enter. 4. The response should contain several parameters for the network. Look for the line Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection. Then look for the Physical Address. This number is the Ethernet address. In the example below it is marked in white. It must be used as a straight number without -.
