Available as modules or individual equipment and system (hardware, software and network) for new-build or retrofit projects, our products are designed for use in trains, stations, tunnels, track, depots and control centers. They monitor and capture events at each site and relay risk management information to the appropriate staff (mobile agents), offering complete visibility throughout the transport network. Equipment can be integrated initially or later into a full system covering all rail sites with functions beyond Security. Trains All of our rolling stock is designed with a standard-based, trainborne Ethernet network, which provides a single, unified and secure broadband communication network for security and other subsystems. For existing fleets, our experts can interface onboard security equipment and train-ground communications with the systems of rolling stock made by other companies. Our train-borne security system includes interior and exterior CCTVs with in-cab viewing, emergency intercom, real-time video and audio recorder. It is fully interoperable with and Passenger Information equipment for emergency event notification. Tracks and Tunnels Our intrusion control software can be configured to detect foreign objects on tracks and alert staff. Tunnel cameras and sensors are also available to react rapidly to unexpected events including unauthorized persons on tracks. We are also developing a gantry to inspect an entire train prior to tunnel entry. The system is scalable and configurable to an expanding rail network. The equipment in an Alstom Security system is either designed and manufactured in-house or sourced from reliable suppliers. All equipment conforms fully to rail transport environment standards. Security agent at work for Caltrain, California, USA 6 Alstom Transport 6A Alstom Transport Alstom Transport 6B
Security solutions at work Rush hour under control on the Lausanne metro Upgraded video surveillance aboard FGC regional trains in Spain Maintenance depots and train stabling yards We offer security equipment to detect intrusions into these off-limits areas and alert the security staff of these risks. Stations Our security solutions for stations consist of CCTVs and PAs, readily accessible and easy-to-use emergency telephones, access control, intrusion detection and fire & smoke alarms. All are connected to a station controller, which includes a station console and alarms to the station s security staff. The system is equally connected to the Passenger Information system for emergency event notification. Operation Control Centers Our range of ICONIS Control Center Software programs run on standard PCs and Windows operating system. Our solution incorporates intelligence capabilities: policy-based, event-driven actions, scalable for small-to-large operation systems, and advanced video content analytics for detection of abnormal behaviour. Interactive applications include remote camera control, playback, onboard surveillance camera viewing. The system can be integrated with an operational display system (ATS, SCADA, Passenger Information Systems) via a single user interface. Communication / Data Transmission An onboard Ethernet network integrates security data, seamlessly communicating to the ground-based backbone network by radio transmission or directly to the control center. This can be integrated with Private Radio Frequency communication systems. Our train-based security solution provides operators with real time, end-to-end situational awareness and contextual information to respond to emergencies quickly and effectively. It allows remote and secured access to the system for authorized persons. An emergency call post in the Athens metro MLO, Lausanne, Switzerland Train-borne & trackside equipment MLO (Metro Lausanne Ouchy) set its project for a new driverless metro in motion in 1999, when it chose Alstom to provide its rolling stock, automatic CBTC train control, track construction and line electrification. In 2005, when it came to systems engineering and project management for the 6 km, 14-station line, MLO again selected Alstom. The aim: assuring passenger safety and security via control center monitoring. Our solution: real-time CCTV monitoring and alarms in trains and on platforms, integrated with a Passenger Information system within URBALIS CBTC, our driverless train control solution with high-speed data transmission. Ergose, Athens, Greece Station-based equipment The 2002 challenge was two-fold: the deadline and the technology. Ergose needed to build a new 40-km suburban main line of double track between the airport and the Olympic stadium in Athens in time for the July 2004 competition an objective attained. Alstom designed, made and integrated the signalling, communications system and station utilities, including ticketing, Passenger Information and security equipment on platforms. Equipment included CCTVs, alarms, fire detection, emergency call, public address and intercom. FGC, Spain Wide-band radio network for video image transmission To improve security aboard its fleet of 55 regional trains, FGC decided to install a wide-band radio network that would transmit real-time video images from 8 existing CCTV cameras on trains to its operation control center. In recognition of our expertise in this field, and the openness of our standard-based architecture, Alstom was chosen in 2007 to perform this contract. STM, Montreal, Canada Operation Control Center with incident management Improving security across the board was a key aim of the Société de Transport de Montreal (STM) when it contracted Alstom in June 2003 to modernize its metro control center. Our first step was to familiarize ourselves with the customer's analysis of their existing rail operations, which included the management of security incidents and emergency response procedures. This led to the definition of a new, innovative software program for Operations & Management to be integrated with ATS and SCADA functions in an Alstom ICONIS control center system. It is designed specifically to optimize security management at every step, from incident detection to successful resolution, by integrating CCTVs, access control, fire and intrusion detection. Its functions support coordination of staff and activity management. This Public Transport security system - with the capability to manage over 200,000 input/outputs - will be the result of a unique collaboration between a visionary transit operator and Alstom.
