EDUCATION: 11/97 09/02: PhD in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing, Department of Geography, King s College London (University of London), the UK. The thesis addressed the application of Geographical Information Systems and the new generation of high spatial resolution Remote Sensing in monitoring and modelling soil-erosion and land degradation in the semi-arid environment. GIS techniques were used to integrate various spatial parameters and to model the dynamics of soil-erosion. Digital image processing techniques were implemented on a wide range of satellite imagery to produce parameters which control soil-erosion and land degradation models. Various geo-statistical methodologies were investigated and implemented to spatially interpolate and extrapolate the outcomes of models. 10/96-09/97 MSc in Geographical Information Systems, Department. of Geomatic Engineering, University College London (University of London), the UK. Main courses covered in the programme: IT and GIS, Spatial Data Acquisition, GIS Algorithms and Data Structure, GIS Analysis, Management of GIS, Applications of GIS, Remote Sensing.
