What discounts am I receiving now? If you have a good student in the house or an anti-theft device in your car, you may already be saving on your auto premium. Your policy Declarations Page and Savings Summary detail all of the discounts that currently apply to your policy. Look next to the name of the discount on the Savings Summary for the actual savings amount. Be sure to regularly check the Savings Summary for any potential discounts you may be eligible to receive in the future. Rewards for Your Customer Loyalty Multi-Car Discount in most states, we offer reduced rates if you own two or more autos and insure them with us. All you need to do is purchase certain auto coverages for at least two of the vehicles. Call today for more details. Auto Policy Plus (Multi- Policy)*: Add a Home Policy. Enjoy the convenience of dialing just one telephone number for all of your insurance needs. And as an added bonus, you ll save on the cost of your auto insurance. What s more, the amount of the discount increases*, depending on the number of years you are insured with us and the number of years a superior driving record is maintained. The savings for these discounts is applied to your premium for Bodily Injury Liability, Property Damage Liability, Medical Expense (or Personal Injury Protection, depending on your state), Comprehensive and Collision Coverages. *Does not apply to Metropolitan General Insurance Company. Discounts for keeping you and yours safe We applaud safe driving practices and reward our customers with valuable savings on your auto insurance premium. Driving Safety Courses: Defensive Driver Discount voluntarily enroll and successfully complete a motor vehicle accident prevention course approved by your state and you ll receive our Defensive Driver Discount. Just send us a copy of the course s certificate of completion when you re done. Because age and course requirements vary by state, call for discount information in your state. Depending upon your state, the discount may apply to all coverages or one or more of your premiums for Bodily Injury, Medical Expenses (or Personal Injury Protection), Property Damage, Comprehensive and Collision Coverages. Driver Improvement Course Discount (online/video/cd-rom) complete a driver improvement course, available online, on VHS video, or CD-ROM, and receive a discount. Ask us about approved courses, qualifications and state availability.
Safety Device Discount This discount gives you several saving options, depending upon the factory-installed safety systems in your vehicle. Discounts are available for: Airbag(s) Automatic seatbelts Combinations of the above Anti-lock brakes Depending upon the discount, we may ask you to send us additional information, such as proof of installation or a sales receipt. As soon as we receive the information, we will apply the discount as of the date shown on the written proof, as long as the date is not before the effective date of your current policy term. Otherwise, we will apply the discount as of the effective date. Passive Restraint Discounts apply to your premium for Medical Expense (or Personal Injury Protection, depending upon your state). In addition, the Anti-Lock Brakes Discount applies to your premium for one or more of the following: Collision, Bodily Injury Liability, and Property Damage Liability Coverages. Discounts for keeping your car safe If you have one of the following anti-theft devices, you may qualify for a discount on the Comprehensive Coverage premium of your auto insurance policy. Anti-theft devices generally fall into one of these two categories: Passive Disabling Device anti-theft disabling systems that are activated automatically when you turn off your ignition. Active Disabling Device anti-theft disabling systems that require you to perform a separate manual step to activate the device. Discounts are also available for the anti-theft devices listed below: Audible Alarm* an anti-theft system that sounds an alarm for a required length of time and can be heard within a specified distance. Vehicle Recovery Device* an electronic unit installed in your vehicle and activated after the auto has been reported stolen. By using a radio frequency network
assigned by the Federal Communications Commission, the device alerts law enforcement officials to the vehicle s location. The LoJack Recovery System is an example of a qualifying vehicle recovery device, however not all vehicle recovery devices may meet the requirements for this discount. Glass Etching* your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or any other unique identifying symbol is permanently etched into the window glass (including windshield, door glass and rear window) of your vehicle. Combat Auto Theft (New York only) a MetLife Auto & Home program, developed in conjunction with New York community police departments, where you register the vehicle(s) on your auto policy with your local police department. This agreement allows police officials to stop your auto without due cause between the hours of 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. (the time when most auto thefts occur) and request identification. Call your representative, Independent Agent, or our Customer Service Department for the necessary enrollment forms. *Discounts are subject to state availability and qualification. Some discounts are available in certain states only. Please refer to the Savings Summary in your policy package for a list of discounts available in your state, or contact your MetLife Auto & Home representative. (Devices that lock onto your steering wheel are not eligible for this discount.) More Discounts And Ways to Save Good Student Discount high school and full time college, junior college, vocational/technical students and graduates who maintain good grades are recognized with our Good Student Discount.* To qualify, students must meet one of the following requirements: rank among the top 20% of the class, maintain a B average or its equivalent, maintain a 3.0 average in a 4-point system for all subjects combined, be included on a Dean s List or Honor Roll. Please send us a copy of a report card, transcript, Dean s List or Honor Roll from the most recent school semester or proof of graduation with the required grade point average. *Certain age and grade level requirements apply.
Student Away students under 25 who are insured on your policy may qualify you for a reduction in your auto insurance if they: reside at an educational institution (boarding school, college, etc.) more than 100 miles from home, and, have limited access to your insured vehicle.
