Highly Scalable Server for Many Possible Uses MAXDATA PLATINUM Server 3200 I
MAXDATA PLATINUM Server 3200 I: Highly Scalable Server for Many Possible Uses Standard Features Now more than ever, profitable business is tied to the quality and extent of the datapool available. This means that the need for adequate data management and with it, the attractiveness of server technology grows along with a company s success, even in smaller businesses. The PLATINUM 3200 I is a server designed precisely for these users. Thanks to its features, it is also eminently suitable as a departmental server. The exemplary and flexible potential uses of the PLATINUM 3200 I are persuasive: Its tower case can be quickly and easily converted into a 19-inch rack format with five rack units. Various types of RAID configurations can be set up with up to ten hot-plug SCSI hard drives through the 4- or 6-slot backplane. The MAXStart CD included with delivery makes setting up the system in existing infrastructures as well as installing the operating system is considerable easier. Monitoring and administration of the server system remote or on-site is taken care of using the MAXDATA Server Management program, which is also included. When the MAXDATA PLATINUM 3200 I is to be integrated into a 19 server rack, a cable management arm is available as an option for this setup. This allows the server system to be easily removed from the rack for maintenance without undoing all of the cables.

Highlights Possible Uses Thanks to its high level of scalability, the MAXDATA PLATINUM 3200 I is able to take on a broad spectrum of tasks. The following are examples of possible uses: Web server Application server Workgroup server Terminal server Demand Based Switching When there is little computing work to be done, the fast processors (from 3.0 GHz) act slower, if necessary down to 2.8 GHz, whilst at the same time reducing the key voltage. This reduces the lost output and saves energy without losing performance. Memory mirroring One option to increase the consistency of the working memory is to mirror it. In this case a bit error in the memory will not cause the system to fail because the mirror is still correct. This means that if there is a bit error the hardware can recreate the data in a corrupt memory from the mirror. As a result a bit error can only be produced if the error occurs in the primary and secondary copy at the same time. Mirroring the working memory not only improves memory consistency, it also increases the speed of access to the memory by accessing both modules at the same time; this is an additional subsidiary benefit of mirroring data. Extended Memory 64 Technology This technology is one of the innovations in the new generation of MAXDATA servers. Expanding the architecture used to date means substantially more memory can be addressed. Processors with Intel EM64T also support 64-bit operating systems from Microsoft, Red Hat and SuSE, but are also fully compatible with today s 32-bit applications and operating systems.
