Enterprise Workload Automation Why talk about scheduling / workload automation?! It s critical complicated, detailed and labor intensive! We didn t have any way of checking for transfer errors nor did we have a way to re-run the jobs in the event of said issues. A job responsible for downloading all exchange rates daily from our 3rd party rate provider once went 5 days without deleting the previous rates downloaded, and didn t overwrite them with new rates. This caused the company to use the same rates on charging its customers for service provided; cost us millions of dollars. Chemical Manufacturing Company! Demands of this retail business limit infrastructure changes to an annual Easter change window; this window has a high degree of complexity and risk. In 2008 the business suffered 14 major incidents related to improper changes to batch related workload. Large Retail Corporation! Staff had to manually connect to the FTP site or web site. People were involved in every step from creation to initiation to monitoring to restart. Student Loan Program Copyright 11/19/10 BMC Software, Inc 4
