Performance Takes a Leading Role. Peak Performance is Achieved Through a Holistic Approach and Orientation Towards the Future. Advanced, practical elevator systems are characterised by innovative technologies and expertise. The elevator controller is the most important component in this respect: Thyssocontrol Multican (TCM). The guiding principle. The development of our elevator systems is based around a universal quality aspiration. Efficiency, safety, future-proof, comfort and reliability are important aspects of this aspiration. This is put into effect in the form of market-oriented, dynamic development processes that combine all elevator components into perfectly matched and intelligent system solutions. The system leads the way. Thyssocontrol Multican employs modern IT management in the shape of the CAN bus. Combined with the latest microprocessor technology and project-oriented software, the result is an optimum data flow. All based around a distributed system configuration. This type of configuration reduces the load on the controller processor and is a prerequisite for fast data communication. It also brings advantages that in turn lead to results. Results, e.g. in respect of high availability, exemplary ride quality, short travel and waiting times. Safe options. If required, the functionality of Thyssocontrol Multican can be extended in a variety of cost effective ways. Monitoring allows the elevator to be visualised at any time. The system records and analyses all movements, identifies sources of faults and permits manual intervention. Teleservice uses data communication to monitor the elevator system round the clock. Faults are remedied automatically or forwarded to a Thyssen Service Center. 2

Suitable for Any Handling Capacity and Any Application Profile. Standard Group Controllers and High End Solutions. Rational and individual: structure and scope of the controller and traffic flows according to specific requirements. What are the characteristics of the user group? What requirements are there when an elevator is used in public, business or private premises, are there any special circumstances? We answer these (and other) questions with the right controller. In other words: various types of controller are available depending on the required handling capacity and the relevant traffic pattern requirements. The main criterion is the amount of information exchanged between the controller, elevator system and user. The non-direction-sensitive single-button controller type 6511. With this type of control system, the elevator is called using a single call button regardless of the direction of travel and landing. For less frequently used residential and office buildings. The direction-sensitive single-button controller type 6512. This control system determines the required direction of travel when the elevator is called. The incoming commands are collected upwards and downwards and processed downwards towards the main landing. For residential and office buildings with moderate usage. 6 The direction-sensitive collective-selective controller type 6513. The direct input of the required direction of travel makes for very efficient processing of the commands. A controller for residential and office buildings that is capable of coping with a high handling capacity and traffic requirements. The direction-sensitive single-button duplex collective controller type 6522. This duplex control system determines the required direction of travel when the elevator is called. The incoming commands are processed upwards and downwards in blocks towards the main landing. The exchange of information between the two controllers ensures optimum and rapid processing of the travel commands. For residential and office buildings with normal usage. The direction-sensitive duplex collective controller for multiple groups type 6526. Thyssocontrol Multican combines the individual controllers within the groups and supervises the teamwork : each individual controller schedules each elevator in the group in the most effective way and constantly monitors the overall traffic pattern. It reacts immediately to any new situations. 6 5 4 3 2 1 E 3 E E 6 3 Effective call processing. The diagram illustrates the operation of the directionsensitive collective-selective controller type 6513. The high-end solution DSC destination selection controller type 6528. The DSC destination selection controller is a new kind of elevator group controller for office blocks. The destination landing is determined when the elevator is called. The high-end solution Artificial Intelligence. Expanding the system with an AI computer increases the controllers learning capacity. The controller gathers important information from the traffic pattern, which it retains for later use. For example, it parks more elevators at popular landings at certain times. Landing calls Up Down
The DSC destination selection controller. 100 % more information results in greater efficiencies in elevator groups. The Thyssen DSC destination selection controller is based on the TCM-MC1 Thyssocontrol Multican controller. Its special feature: the exact destination landing (and direction of travel) is established when the call is made using ultra-modern touch screen terminals in the access area. The controller therefore has all the information it requires; further inputs in the car are unnecessary. The DSC controller selects the most suitable elevator and transports the passenger directly to his destination. Intermediate stops and empty car runs are reduced considerably, the handling capacity increases by up to 30 %. 6 5 4 3 2 Destination call 5 3 6 6 5 Elevator 1 Elevator 2 Elevator 3 1 2 3 1 6 5 Traffic planning using artificial intelligence (AI). For forecasting and maximum availability. Equipped with the latest software technology and expandable with an AI computer, the controllers are able to forecast where elevators should be positioned. This means that alternative scenarios involving possible changes to the building layout or elevator usage can be analysed and retrieved immediately. The result is a clearly balanced and dynamic traffic flow. Efficiency Delivering a High Degree of Comfort and Low Costs. Thyssocontrol Multican in Conjunction with Our Various Drive Concepts. Controller and drive in the Evolution. In our new range of Evolution elevators, which require no machine room, the innovative Thyssen Mini gearless drive concept and the controller are situated in the vicinity of the headroom and take up very little space. The service platform is integrated in the control cabinet, where it can be easily accessed for maintenance purposes. The perfect interaction between controller and drive makes for a smooth ride, protects mechanical components and means substantial energy savings. Innovation in motion. The Thyssocontrol Multican and the frequency-controlled Thyssen Isostop 60 drives work together as a unit. The components that provide the ultimate in ride quality: each ride in the elevator takes account of the body s capacity for sensing movement the elevator accelerates and stops gently and changes in speed are barely noticeable. Thyssocontrol Multican and the Isostop 60 drive regulation system help reduce the running costs of your elevator system. The energy consumption of the entire system is reduced and its working life and availability increased. 8
Example of geared drives: The TW 160. Powerful and adaptable. The TW 160 traction drive with Isostop 60 and Thyssocontrol Multican in the machine room is full of the latest technology. Moderate dimensions, highly efficient, excellent running properties and an extremely rugged design are the distinguishing features of the drive system. Example of gearless drives: The Thyssen Compact Gearless. The smooth transition of medium to long travel heights. This gearless drive with its very good running properties is destined for the higher performance categories. The wide type range means there is a suitable machine for every performance category. Example of an hydraulic drive. The alternative when space is at a premium and travel heights are short. Where short travel heights or building constraints demand space-saving solutions, the hydraulic drive with pump unit and silent immersible motor is the solution. Isostop 60. As beneficial with geared drives as it is with gearless drives. Isostop 60 can be employed irrespective of the type of drive. The parameters are transmitted to the Thyssocontrol Multican through the CAN bus to achieve an optimum data flow. Thyssen Elevators always uses frequency-controlled technology with traction drive elevators. The Isostop 60 technology is based on this concept and allows both synchronous and asynchronous motors always to operate at their ideal working points. Travel time curve of a frequencycontrolled drive. The figure demonstrates the homogeneous ratio between travel speed (top) and input current (bottom). Travel time curve of a hydraulic drive. In this case, the input current hardly varies as the speed increases or decreases. The extremely smooth running nature of the motor also contributes significantly to the excellent ride quality. The reason behind this is the high clock frequency of the Isostop 60. In addition, using a frequency controller results in power savings of up to 40 % compared to conventional three-phase controllers. Including a reduced load on the mains and a low starting current. Now matter how you look at it: Isostop 60 stands for high efficiency. Electromagnetic compatibility. Thyssocontrol Multican controller systems comply with the European EMC recommendations and legislation. The necessary tests were carried out in Thyssen Elevator s test laboratory. 9
