Number 3 February 9, 2012 Report from the Accrediting Commission The DETC Accrediting Commission met on January 19-20, 2012 and took the following actions: Three Institutions Gain Accreditation DETC Accrediting Commission accredited three new institutions and reaccredited six institutions. The next meeting of the DETC Accrediting Commission will be June 14-15, 2012. All matters to be considered by the Commission should be brought to the attention of the Executive Director by no later than May 1, 2012. Enrollment Agreements: new #2, clarifies obligations of student and institution if student enrolls by course and/or program; Changes to C.9. Policy on Degree Program, Standard VII: Admission Practices: added minimum B1 English proficiency level identified within the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) standards and assessed through various ESOL examinations under When Applicant s Native Language is other than English; and Changes to C.9. Policy on Degree Program, Standard VII: Admission Practices: under Experiential Equivalent Credit added institution must have published evaluation standards similar to CAEL s and a qualified individual with experience to oversee evaluations of learning portfolios. Also added CAEL s Ten Standards for Assessing Learning. Proposed Changes (call for public comment) The Commission gave preliminary approval to the following changes.
