EAI Op'mizing your integra'on cost Sunil Kumar Pandey Persistent Systems Ltd. Session: 20188

EAI need and challenges Mergers and acquisi'ons have become more common than ever before. Current economic situa'on is tes'ng all organiza'ons they need to leverage exis'ng strengths to give beker services but need to keep cost to minimum. The world is dynamic Predic'ons of capacity required have failed more ooen than they have been correct. The integra'on needs to be able to scale. Integra'on needs to keep integrated ever changing applica'ons and integrate newer applica'ons with minimum cost and 'me. 2

EAI solu'ons explored TIBCO: Excellent suite of products TIBCO Ac'veMatrix BusinessWorks Off- the- shelf adapters ESB B2B solu'ons, managed file transfer and TIBCO OpenSpirit 3

EAI solu'ons explored IBM: IBM WebSphere applica'on integra'on porxolio is a suite of products that help to integrate applica'ons as well as manage end- to- end processes effec'vely. IBM WebSphere ESB IBM WebSphere Message Broker IBM WebSphere MQ IBM WebSphere Transforma'on Extender IBM WebSphere Adapters IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA appliances IBM WebSphere Service Registry and Repository 4

EAI solu'ons explored Oracle: Oracle Fusion Middleware provides a complete set of tools that are built on open and standards- based plaxorms Oracle Data Integra'on (ODI) and Oracle Golden Gate Oracle SOA Suite and Oracle BPM Suite Oracle Web Center Suite Oracle Applica'on Integra'on Architecture (AIA) 5

EAI solu'ons explored webmethods (acquired by SoOwareAG): webmethods enterprise applica'on plaxorm is a powerful tool connect mul'ple applica'ons across mul'ple plaxorms fast and efficiently. Integra'on Server webmethods Broker webmethods Op'mize for Infrastructure webmethods Adapters webmethods for SAP 6

EAI Parameters for evalua'on Speed of integra'on Support for integra'ng exis'ng applica'ons Availability of readymade adapters Cost of integra'on: Depends on the following Cost of buying the Integra'on Solu'on components/ bundle Cost of manpower having required exper'se The solu'ons explored are well- established and, hence, difference in manpower costs may not be a major differen'ator. The cost of sooware will depend on various factors that would vary from organiza'on to organiza'on. Hence, the solu'ons are not being compared on the basis of cost. 7

EAI Parameters for evalua'on Maintainability Availability of manpower having necessary exper'se Support for products involved Standardized methods of integra'on used Performance requirements Scalability Speed 8

EAI Speed of Integra'on Tibco: Good set of network adapters for COM, CORBA, EJB, Tuxedo, LDAP, WebSphere MQ Oracle: Adapters provided for a wide range of products and technologies. Very convenient if a large number of different databases being used - supports almost all databases including legacy databases. IBM: Provides wizard based toolkit to develop custom adapters - very convenient if integra'on is going to involve crea'on of a significant number of custom adapters. Wide range of adapters for IBM soowares and hardwares including z/os - the best solu'on if you have exis'ng IBM mainframes and applica'ons. webmethods: Adapters provided for plugging exis'ng applica'ons into the webmethods ESB, Integra'on Server. They speak SAP, Oracle, J2EE,.NET. No coding required. 9

EAI - Maintainability Tibco: one of the pioneers in providing integra'on solu'ons. It is easy to maintain and manpower is available. Oracle: offering to perform as well as support the integra'on. IBM: IBM products are well pervasive and manpower is easily available. IBM is well known for providing excellent support for its products. webmethods: Java based, hence finding right manpower is definitely not a challenge. 10

EAI - Performance If speed is a major concern, TIBCO FTL could be the solu'on you need - it is the first messaging sooware to break the one microsecond latency barrier and na'vely integrates with TIBCO Rendezvous. Oracle integra'on provides good performance. They are highly scalable. IBM suite of products has a proven track record of providing very good performance and scalability. Provides good performance while ensuring reliability and security. 11
