Undergraduate Student Program A year-round program that provides students with relevant research experience while they are pursuing an undergraduate degree. Offers summer, part-time, and full-time appointments designed to complement the students' education with work experience related to their chosen field of study. Appointments are available for 90-day summer internships with the option to continue working part-time during the academic year Maximum years in the program are 6 years for those pursuing a bachelor's degree and 3 years for those pursuing an associate's degree April 2013 2
UGS - Post Baccalaureate Category Offers graduates the opportunity to participate in the UGS program after graduation Applies to students who have been awarded a bachelor's degree within the past 3 years but have not yet been accepted and enrolled in a graduate program Post baccalaureate students may remain in this category for up to 1 year Students use this one-year appointment to prepare for graduate school acceptance (i.e., GRE/GMAT exams, applications, etc.) A student may move into GRA status when documentation is provided indicating the student's intention to accept an offer of admission to a graduate program. Eligibility requirements Provide documentation of acceptance in an undergraduate program Enroll in and complete a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester Initially have and maintain cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA Laboratory requires successful applicant to complete a pre-employment drug test April 2013 4
Graduate Research Assistant Program A year-round program that provides students with relevant research experience while they are pursuing a graduate degree. In some cases, students can arrange to conduct masters or doctoral thesis research at the Laboratory Appointments are available for 90 days up to 1 year, with option for renewal based upon program requirements Students are selected on the basis of field of study, grade point average, and research interests Individuals may remain in the GRA program for up to 3 months after receiving a PhD April 2013 5
GRA Eligibility Requirements Provide documentation of acceptance in a graduate program Enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of six graduate credit hours per semester Initially have and maintain cumulative 3.2/4.0 GPA Laboratory requires successful applicant to complete a pre-employment drug test April 2013 6
Post master's category Offers graduate students the opportunity to participate in the GRA program after receiving a master's degree. Applies to those students who have been awarded a master's degree within the past three years but have not yet been accepted into another master's program or a PhD program. Post master's students may remain in this category for one year. To remain in the GRA program after the one-year maximum in the post master's category, students must be accepted and enrolled in another graduate program (master's or PhD). April 2013 7
