Our team of qualified and experienced sports instructors, the Green Team, is on hand to ensure that each holiday is extra special. There is an organized activity program that includes daily runs of varying distances, a weekly half marathon or mini triathlon, tennis/ windsurf/ badminton/ golf/ squash instructions, seminars, tournaments, relaxation classes, mountain bike and road bike tours on the island, entertainment, and so on. All these activities and facilities, makes Club La Santa a totally dedicated healthy holiday resort with an Olympic Village atmosphere. On top of the weekly activities, Club La Santa organizes special theme weeks (e.g. Aerobics Weeks, Bike Weeks, Golf Weeks, Tennis Weeks) and sports events (e.g. Ironman Lanzarote Spain, Lanzarote Marathon) to provide the customers with a more professional and intensive approach of particular sports. Club La Santa is now proud to have its Wellness Centre since February 2006. This facility has steam bath, sauna, hot and cold pools, Jacuzzi, massage and physiotherapy. This means we are not only offering more service to our clients, but we also create new work opportunities! Chapter 1 Sports Department The responsibility for all activities at Club La Santa lies with the Sports Department, which has approx. 60 employees and consists of 3 subdivisions: Green Team, Plus & Events. GREEN TEAM: The Green Team exists out of approx. 50 instructors, handy-men/ mechanics, guides, children animators and sports receptionists. They are all qualified and/ or experienced employees with very good language skills who are employed in order to use their skills and education in a dynamic sports-resort in the sun. They arrange the many weekly activities, competitions and tournaments for the guests, and they also participate weekly in the Green Team shows. The Green Team activities are usually free and constitute the basic concept of Club La Santa. The Green Team activities consist of a large range of instructions, tournaments and competitions offered by our sports team. These activities are listed in the weekly programme and the instruction programme. In these programmes you can see both when the activities take place and which levels are offered. We distinguish between green level for beginners, blue level for slightly experienced and red level for experienced PLUS: Apart from this free basic concept, Club La Santa also offers personnel coaching according to the special needs and wishes of each client. This is called the Plus concept. The idea is to offer a personnel and professional service to each guest or group against extra payment. Among other things, the Plus instructors offer: personnel coaching in several sports activities, individual training programmes, adventure sports, etc. The Plus instructors are highly qualified persons with a considerable experience and expertise on their fields. EVENTS: Races are some special sport events during the year at Club La Santa or on Lanzarote. The most well known event is the Ironman competition, which is held every year by the end of May in collaboration with the public authorities of Lanzarote. Other examples of events arranged by the Sports Department are: the Ridge Run, the Volcano Triathlon, the Marathon and the Duathlon Competition. Furthermore Club La Santa organises special theme weeks, such as; the International Aerobic Week. Golf Week, Windsurfing Week, etc.
Chapter 2 General information and requirements WELLNESS CENTRE: We have opened our new Wellness centre in the end of February 2006. The Wellness Centre offers; Steam bath, sauna, hot and cold pools, Jacuzzi, massage and physiotherapy. This facility will offer employment for 4 persons working as receptionists, physiotherapists, masseurs, etc. Please see the following pages for an explanation of the different Wellness positions. Minimum age: 23 years old. Employment period: Minimum period 9 months. Working hours: 40 hours per week or part time positions. The worker must be prepared to work weekends/ evenings. For full time positions, the work will be distributed on 5 working days a week. For more details regarding the working hours, please see Chapter 3 the employment conditions. General assistance in Sports Department: The employees of the Wellness centre should be prepared to give general assistance in connection with the Green Team (teaching classes like e.g. Pilates, fit ball, deep water training) and Club La Santa Events (Ironman Lanzarote Spain, Marathon, etc.). General requirements: You should have an outgoing personality, ready smile, flexibility and a 100% service minded attitude; You should be able to work both in a team and independently; Ability to think practically and creatively; You must have a sports interest and ability to multi task in a sense of calm and professionalism at all times; Preferable in possession of a recent First Aid Certificate. Other requirements: You need to be a member of the European Community in order to get official work permission in Lanzarote. Chapter 3 Job descriptions of Wellness positions A) Full time positions: Physiotherapist: Total positions: 3 The clinic for physiotherapy is in the Wellness Centre of Club La Santa. Four massage rooms are available where both physiotherapists and massage therapists offer various treatments to our clients. The Physiotherapists offer assessment, diagnosis and treatments of injuries, postural problems, advice on stretching, rehabilitation, injury prevention, etc. They mostly offer preand post sport massages and relaxing massages. As an additional service the physiotherapists offer small seminars to our clients with special focus on sports physiotherapy, sports massage, back problems, etc. The Physiotherapist is a member of the Wellness team, which means he / she also has to participate in the collective tasks in the Wellness Centre by serving clients in the reception area, handling enquiries, booking appointments, processing payments and cashing up. Other tasks are to show clients around in the centre and maintaining a high hygienically standard in the different areas by cleaning, maintaining and tidying up. Ideal candidate must be a certified and experienced physiotherapist with a sports background. The physiotherapist must be prepared to do treatments, massages (approx. 80% of the treatments) and small seminars. It is a definite advantage if the physiotherapist has a recognised certificate and /or experience as an instructor in Kinesis & Easyline (Technogym), Pilates, Power-Plate and various Aqua training classes. The Wellness Centre is a new facility in Club La Santa. Therefore we are still in process of developing the concept, which means we are open for different ideas in therapy treatments e.g. hot stone therapy, etc. Massage therapist: Total positions: 3 The clinic for massage therapists is in the Wellness Centre of Club La Santa. Four massage rooms are available where both physiotherapists and Massage therapists offer various treatments to our clients. The Massage therapists offer sports/ relaxing massages and if possible (depending on the candidate s experience/ certificates) treatments such as Foot reflexology, shiatsu, and hot stone massage. As an additional service the Massage therapists also offer small seminars to our clients with special focus on sports massage etc. The Massage therapist is a member of the Wellness team, which means he / she also has to participate in the collective tasks in the Wellness Centre by serving clients in the reception area, handling enquiries, booking appointments, processing payments and cashing up. Other tasks are to show clients around in the centre and maintaining a high hygienically standard in the different areas by cleaning, maintaining and tidying up. Ideal candidate must be a certified and experienced Massage therapist with a sports background. The Massage therapist must be prepared to do sport and relaxing massages and small seminars. It is a definite advantage if the Massage therapist has a recognised certificate and /or experience as an instructor in Kinesis & Easyline (Technogym), Pilates, Power-Plate and various Aqua training classes.
Beauty therapist: Total Position: 1-2 The clinic for beauty therapy is a part of the Wellness Centre. The beauty therapist will offer different treatments to the clients, mainly facials, but also e.g. eyelash and eyebrow treatments, manicures and pedicures. Depending on the therapist s experience he/ she will also offer small seminars e.g. with focus on home care. The Beauty therapist is a member of the Wellness team, which means he / she also has to participate in the collective tasks in the Wellness Centre by serving clients in the reception area, handling enquiries, booking appointments, processing payments and cashing up. Other tasks are to show clients around in the centre and maintaining a high hygienically standard in the different areas by cleaning, maintaining and tidying up. Ideal candidate: must be a certified and experienced beauty therapist. It is a definite advantage if the therapist as well has a recognized certificate in sports- and relaxing massages. Experience in using Dermalogica products in treatments is an advantage. The beauty therapy clinic is a new facility in the Wellness Centre. Therefore we are in process of developing the concept, which means we are open for different ideas and suggestions. B) Part time positions: The Wellness Centre also offers the possibility to work part time with treatments (depending on the candidate s experience and skills). The ideal candidate for the part time positions would be a candidate with a recognised certificate in (massage) treatments in combination with experience in giving seminars (e.g. back problems, massage, nutrition) and instructing different classes such as Kinesis & Easyline (Technogym), Pilates, Power-Plate and various Aqua training classes. The part time candidate will be a member of the Wellness team, which means he / she also has to participate in the collective tasks in the Wellness Centre by serving clients in the reception area, handling enquiries, booking appointments, processing payments and cashing up. Other tasks are to show clients around in the centre and maintaining a high hygienically standard in the different areas by cleaning, maintaining and tidying up. Some examples for part time work possibilities: 1) Part time Wellness Receptionist/ Massage therapist 15-20 hrs p. wk 2) Part time Wellness Receptionist/ Physiotherapist/ Massage therapist 15-20 hrs p. wk 3) Part time therapist in Reflexology/ Shiatsu/ Hot stone therapy 5-10 hrs p. wk.
Chapter 4: Employment and general conditions Job designation Employment Conditions as per January, 30 th 2013 Wellness Massage therapist Wellness Physiotherapist/ Sports Therapist (minimum 3 years education) Wellness Beauty therapist Tasks See job description (page 6-7). Salary/Tax Salary: The salary for the Wellness Massage / Beauty therapists is: 1.322,15 bruto per month (12 times a year), which includes 37 hours on treatment per month (+10% on commissions for treatments above 37 hours per month). The salary for the Wellness Physiotherapists/ Sports Therapist is: 1.457,34 bruto per month (12 times a year), which includes 37 hours on treatment per month (+10% on commissions for treatments above 37 hours per month). Besides this monthly salary you also receive three extra payments during the year: 1) Extra payment in December: Max 1.322,15 bruto for massage therapists and max. 1.457,34 bruto for physiotherapists. However, the first year the extra payment will be calculated proportionally to the number of months the worker has been employed. 2) Extra payment in June: max. 1.322,15 bruto for massage therapists and max. 1.457,34 bruto for physiotherapists. However, the first year the paga extra will be calculated proportionally to the number of months the worker has been employed. 3) Holiday pay: Calculated according to how long the worker has been employed (1.209,95 Euros bruto per year) All salary is paid in Euros. The salary is paid before the 5 th of the following month. Basic salary for full time positions (examples): A) Massage / Beauty Therapist positions: I. Wages Basic salary 1.322,15 Shoes 4,06 A. Working conditions Contract: All employees are working with an open-ended contract. The minimum period of employment is 9 months, starting with 2 months probationary period. The first week will be used for training and observation in the Wellness Centre. Resignation, etc.: The employee has a 2 months resignation notice. Working hours full time positions: Working hours will be 40 hours a week. The worker must be ready to work weekends/evenings. The work will be distributed on 5 working days a week. Your working day can be seen a few days ahead of schedule.
A working week for the massage therapists and physiotherapists could be divided as follow (an example): 30 hours treatments 2,5 hours lunch (1/2 hour per day) 2,5 hours seminars 5 hours receptionist tasks/ servicing clients/ other tasks (see job descriptions for Spa/ Wellness team) Holidays/days off: 2 weekly days off, distributed by Club La Santa. Holidays: 30 days a year + 18 days off as compensation for work on public holidays and changing working hours. This way, the employee gains 4 holidays/days off per month. The minimum days of holiday to take are 7 days and the maximum is 21 days (including the normal 2 days off per week). It is not allowed to go on holiday during Christmas, New Year, Easter and during the following big events; Volcano triathlon/ Ironman (May), Challenge Week (November) and the Marathon (December). General conditions Housing Work meal Flight Medical insurance & Social Security Unemployment fund Insurance The Wellness staff can live in Club La Santa for the first month until they find an apartment in the village (approx. 1,5 km away) Rent per person per month in CLS: 150,25 Euros/month (this will be automatically deducted from your salary). Incl. cleaning every two weeks, change of towels, etc. The staff member will receive one free meal on all working days in the staff canteen. Flight expenses to Lanzarote will be paid by the employee. No guarantee for available flights in connection with holidays. The employee will be integrated in the Spanish social security system, which implies free medical assistance (only in case of sickness or accident at home). The instructor s part of the expenses to Seguridad Social is, as mentioned above, currently 6% of the salary which is automatically deducted. This amount is equivalent to appr. 1/5 of the expenses for Seguridad Social. The employer pays the remaining 4/5. Please see the payment statement on page 9 for more details. You automatically pay to the unemployment fund through your salary. Please see the payment statement on page 9 for more details. Health/ Medical insurance: See above. But we recommend you take a private accident insurance. In case of a work accident, Club La Santa s accident insurance is covering you. Casualty insurance: You will be covered by Club La Santa s casualty insurance from the first to the last working day, but only in connection with work. We recommend that you take out a personnel insurance to cover you in your spare time.
Other insurance: You will not be covered by Club La Santa s insurance for any of your personal items. We recommend you to take a private housing insurance. Telephone Internet Uniform Work permits Sports Facilities Resignation The use of telephone in the apartment is not included in the rent. Calls within Club La Santa are free, but calls out of Club La Santa are at your own expense. All employees in the Sports Department can use the internet/ email for free in the private (work office of the Green Team) subject to availability (work has priority). Club La Santa provides the employees with a free uniform. However, shoes and socks are not included. Club La Santa will provide the working permit (only for members of the European Community) and offer assistance in paperwork for residence. All employees have free use of sports facilities and material (subject to availability). The staff in the Spa/ Wellness centre can use the Wellness centre free of charge (subject to availability). The employee has a two-month resignation notice. In consideration of the planning and the appointment of a new staff member, we do ask the employees to give notice as early as possible. In case Club La Santa discharges the staff member, the notice period depends on how long the instructor has been employed, according to Spanish legislation. Comments The employee agrees to put all his/her work capacity at the disposal of the company. Therefore the employee shall not without prior permission from the company undertake any other tasks or jobs which may be considered incompatible with the satisfactory execution of his/her obligations towards the company. In case the employee displays negligence such as serious disregard of duties and responsibilities in relation to the job, committing breach of confidence, taking up other private tasks or jobs without prior written permission, intoxication during working hours, behaving or acting in a manner which causes serious public and/or private offences and thus being detrimental to interests of the company, these acts are to be considered as serious breach of the contract and entitles the company to the immediate dismissal of the employee. The employee is not permitted to enter into Club La Santa s major Events within the first year of employment. Participation in the following years may be possible subject to availability.
