Both fresh air treatment and air conditioning can be achieved successfully in a single direct-expansion system via DAIKIN VRV technology without the usual design problems of needing VRV system for air conditioning and separate individual heating and cooling systems just for the Air Handling Units. The factory engineered and mounted controls package of the Air Handling Units assures a fast and easy PLUG and PLAY connection of the Air Handling Units just like a standard VRV indoor unit. This innovation brings a total monovalent direct-expansion solution to the heating, cooling and fresh air treatment demands of air conditioning applications. In addition the Daikin Inverter technology for step-less and efficient capacity control combined with the highly sophisticated factory engineered and mounted Air Handling Unit controls are ensuring constant and comfortable supply air temperature. Last but not least not to forget about the business advantages in which the DAIKIN PLUG and PLAY VRV connection will put you. The possibility of connecting the Air Handling Units together with the standard VRV indoor units in a monovalent heating and cooling VRV system gives you the opportunity to completely get rid off the fossil fuel burning boilers, the chillers and the water piping from your projects and so reduce the total investment cost significantly. Altogether, the Daikin PLUG and PLAY VRV connection system offers you the most efficient, easiest to install technology with lowest investment costs for the cooling and heating needs of your air conditioning projects. 3

+ Factory engineered and mounted controls For all Air Handling Units of the PLUG and PLAY VRV connection system a factory engineered and factory mounted controls package is included. This package consists of: > Expansion valve kits EKEXV which are already mounted inside the unit so that only the refrigerant piping has to be connected. > Factory mounted control equipment for the AHU like temperature-, pressure sensors, dampers > Control panel to control the whole AHU based on supply temperature including EKEQMCB boxes. This assures a fast and easy PLUG and PLAY connection of the Air Handling Units to a VRV system just like a standard VRV indoor unit. The possibility of operating the Air Handling Unit by using standard DAIKIN remote control greatly simplifies overall system control. Using a centralized remote control enables the user to choose from a wide range of control systems that integrate air conditioning and ventilation in a single control system structure. R ANGE A wide standard range covers air flow rates from 1.100 m3/h up to 124.000 m3/h, with the possibility to choose the most appropriate transverse velocity, depending on the treatment required. In addition, with the same air flow, the flow section (width x height) can be adapted to the dimensional constraints of the installation. All sizes are modularly constructed to facilitate transport and easy assembly on site. With the absence of any welding points the Air Handling Units, on request, can be supplied completely dismantled to allow assembly directly on site. > Pre-defined sizes Twenty-seven (27) fixed sizes optimized to reach the best compromise between competitiveness and manufacturing standardization. > Infinitely variable sizes designed to overcome installation constraints where space requirements of the section width x height must adapt to the available space. The system gives the possibility to tailor the unit sizes through increments/decrements of 5 cm. CONTROL Upon request all units can be provided with a regulation and control system that can manage the unit independently, or communicate with the external supervision system. Control panel power section, inverters, microprocessor, sensors to measure temperature, humidity and air quality, regulation valves, damper actuators, safety devices and control are just some of the components that can be installed upon request on the machine in order to provide an even more comprehensive product and faster installation. 9

Technical choices All the units were developed by paying special attention to energy efficiency. Exchange surfaces, motor efficiency, filtration, isolation, friction reduction and pressure drop in the air flow inside the Air Handling Units are just some of the most important parameters considered in the development of the design. All of this provides a product ready to be easily inserted in the system and capable of contributing to overall energy savings. FRAME Structure with carrier chassis built with anodized aluminum (suitable for installation in a particularly aggressive atmosphere) or aluminum profiles of 40x40 or 60x60mm sections. There are solutions with thermal break (60x60mm section) or radial profile (suitable for applications in the food sector or in general, where a high level of hygiene is required). All profiles are double chamber type so that the fixing screws are totally concealed and there are no projections inside the Air Handling Units (in compliance with current accident-prevention regulations), and they are also fitted with a gasket to be inserted inside the profile, in a dovetail slot, to ensure maximum seal. The structure is completed with three way connecting, nylon loaded glass joints put on corners while the base, independent for each section, is in extruded aluminum with aluminum pressure die-cast corners to facilitate lifting. Flat panel Polyurethane foam Step panel PANELS Aluminium profile with thermal break Corner The closing panels are double sheets, box-folded and can be flat (25 and 46mm thickness) or step type (42 and 62mm thickness). The step panels permit a flat surface inside the unit, ensuring continuity between the panel and the profile. Insulation can be made of polyurethane foam (40 50 kg/m 3 ) or fibrous mineral wool, glued to the panel (90 kg/m 3 ). Base FAN-MOTOR ASSEMBLY The Fan-Motor is made with a single structure comprising two aluminum profiles which help to absorb transmitted shock and a motor, mounted on a tensioning slide.
