School of Engineering Bachelor of Engineering in Building Services Engineering (3 years) Graduate career in building services engineering cover a vast range of different activities. They include designing, installing, commissioning and maintaining systems for heating, lighting, refrigeration, acoustics, air conditioning, ventilation, water and plumbing, energy, power and renewable, lifts, control, and fire and security. Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronic Systems (3 years) There are over 60,000 people involved in the Electronic & Electrical area in Ireland, designing, testing, manufacturing, selling, installing and maintaining equipment. Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (3 years) Graduates may work as Technician Engineers in the areas of mechanical engineering product design, product development and test, equipment support, manufacturing systems planning, production management,. Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Sustainable Design (add on 1 year) In a rapidly developing industry, new job titles will inevitably emerge. Bachelor of Science (Honours) in building surveying (4 years) Career opportunities for professional building surveyors exist in the private and public sectors and, in particular, in all areas of employment associated with the development and use of building. Graduates may, subject to fulfilling experiential requirements, progress to Chartered Building Surveyor membership of the Society of Chartered Surveyors and/ or Corporate Building Engineers. Mater of Science in Renewable Energy Systems ( Taught Programme) School of Nursing, Midwifery, Health Studies & Applied Sciences Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Early Childhood studies (4 years) Childcare Practitioner, childcare manager, early years specialist, pre-school assistant, residential care worker, project manager, learning and childcare support officer, training officer, family support worker, inspector, government adviser contributing to policy-making and legislation. Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Health (3 years) The food and drinks sector is one of the most important sectors of the Irish economy, currently employing about 40 thousand people, with about 85-90 companies in the north east region. There will be exciting employment opportunities in all major food product sectors including dairy, meat, brewing, fruit and vegetable processing, confectionery and convenience foods. The work is typically hand-on and practical, and involves working with computerised instruments and equipment. Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Food Innovation (Add-on 1 year) Graduates from the programme usually move into management or research and development areas within the sector.
