EU 1169 Update

Learnings Brand owners have to collect B2C data internally from different sources so there are risks in case of product updates or switches. The most success was achieved when a 3 rd party Master Data Service was used to collect attributes and images from physical products e.g. GS1 Belgium Luxembourg Trustbox solution Data quality and certification schemes need to be integrated into onboarding program, because it is not enough to send the data. We need to have 100% accurate data Use EU guidelines limit local/national customizations/data models GS1 standard data sharing networks such as the GDSN and GS1 Source proved to be the most popular and easiest way to syndicate the data to trading partners 12

Country Summary 13

The great progress of the GS1 Global Healthcare Initiative

Imagine a world Where bedside scanning would confirm that a patient gets the right product at the right dosage at the right time Where patient records capture the brand, dosage and lot number of drugs and medical devices Where products are accurately and quickly recalled from every point in the supply chain Where manufacturers can monitor real-time demands and adapt production accordingly

Improving patient safety through Unique Device Identification (UDI) Manufacturers to identify and mark medical devices with a globally unique identifier Submitting trusted product information to the UDI database Regulation applicable in the US since September 2014, other countries in preparation Large scope: medical devices ranging from implants to surgical gloves

GS1, the first accredited issuing agency GS1 was the first organization to be accredited by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) as UDI issuing agency First time that GS1 is given such a wide official recognition by a regulatory body This means that the GS1 system can be used to implement the US FDA UDI rule 17
