Aberdeen Drilling Consultants Presentation on Asset Integrity and The ADC TRAMS System Presented by: Douglas G Hay, Managing Director, Aberdeen Drilling Consultants
Overview TRAMS Overview Asset Integrity Key Programme 3 Key Programme 4
Introduction The HSE set requirements for asset integrity. The primary issues raised in these requirements were with aging installations and the containment of Hydrocarbons. The most recent developments have come from Key Programmes 3 and 4. Regular inspections and audits ensure the integrity of aging assets is maintained to as high a level as possible. To help overcome current difficulties with traditional inspection techniques ADC developed TRAMS to facilitate a standardized approach towards inspections, reporting and follow up inspections.
Introduction Traditional inspection methods tend to lead to inefficiencies and time lags in delivering crucial details. These inspections often add unnecessary cost since duplicated effort is commonplace.
What is Trams T - Technical R - Reporting A - Audit M - Management S - System A New Standard for Reporting Audit Inspection and Information Management.
What is Trams An Audit Management Package. Can be used for any industry in which owning assets is a requirement. Written in accordance with ISO 10011. (Guidelines for auditing quality systems) Is used to plan, organise, store and manage data generated during audits/inspections. Based around industry standard checklists which can be manipulated to meet specific needs of the client. Comprehensive reporting system.
Benefits of Trams It was designed in order to promote standardisation within the auditing community. Without standardisation, information sharing becomes costly and time consuming. Reduction in unnecessary auditing leading to cost saving. Improved control of non conformances with the ability to manage these even after the end of a contract. Powerful and flexible reporting capabilities. Historical audit data allowing trends on inspection results to be studied. Effective data management resulting in enhanced working environments.
Advantages T.R.A.M.S. Provides a Standard for Auditing Brings the Power of Data Management Compare Rig Equipment Specifications Against Actual Audit Information Ability to Evaluate the Asset Condition From Your PC Efficient Data Management will lead to Safer and More Reliable Rigs

Asset Integrity Asset - a useful and desirable thing or quality. Integrity - a sound, unimpaired, or perfect condition Maintaining hardware to be safe, reliable and efficient is not only essential to manage the major accidents hazards the industry faces but it also plays a vital part in creating a physical environment people can be proud to work in. Creating this environment is one of the key strategies we believe are required to create an incident free workplace.
Asset Integrity Key Programme 3: 2004 2007 Hydrocarbon Releases. Verification Non-compliance Issues by independent verifiers. Safety Critical Backlog
Key Programme 3: 2004 2007 The TRAMS software can be specifically tailored to meet the three main requirements of the Key Programme 3 2004 2007. This is achieved through the application of specific checklists to refine the audit to a prequalified standard that is carried out to a set standard.
Asset Integrity Key Programme 4: 2010 2013 1. Specific consideration of aging issues. 2. Inspect approaches to management of the risks. 3. Identify shortcomings and enforce and appropriate programme of remedial action. 4. Common approach to the management of aging installations.
Key Programme 4: 2010 2013 1. Specific consideration of aging issues. Trend analysis through the lifetime of a specific rig or between various rigs. 2. Inspect approaches to management of the risks. Continual audits on the automatically created CAR and NC sheets promote feedback on the management of the risks.
Key Programme 4: 2010 2013 3. Identify shortcomings and enforce appropriate programme of remedial action. Shortcomings are identified during the audits and logged in the NC and CAR sheets. 4. Common approach to the management of aging installations. TRAMS promotes a standardised approach to inspection and continual conditioning monitoring.
Raising A Non Conformance Non-Conformances are also raised from the audit checklist screen..
..in turn a Corrective Action Request (CAR) is raised. Corrective Actions
Training Full details of the asset integrity auditing programme TRAMS can be found in the ADC Virtual Academy e-learning training programme: Understanding Drilling Equipment
Conclusion TRAMS, as a data management tool, can simplify, hasten and improve the efficiency of asset inspections. It provides the standard that the industry requires in this time of greater information sharing.
Conclusion ADC is committed to improving the safety and reputation of the UK oil and gas industry with regard to : 1. Rig inspections. 2. The outcomes and findings of rig inspections. 3. The close out by the rig operator and owner. 4. The issuing of a drilling permit or license once this is closed out.
