MultiModal - Ports & Logistics MultiModal liabilities are the contractual and legal liabilities of the operator in the transport chain or the intermediary, no matter whether he acts as a principal or as an agent. At RaetsMarine anybody in the transport and intermediary chain that is exposed to liabilities can be covered under our MultiModal insurance. It provides a comprehensive protection against third party liabilities both contractual and non-contractual. It also includes a so-called errors and omission cover. To accomplish a particular risk we can also provide coverage for physical damage to owned and/or leased equipment. Marine Defence Insurance This type of insurance covers the legal costs and expenses which an operator in the transport chain is bound to make due to a dispute under a contract or as a result of a dispute with any party related to the transportation of the goods in connection with the insured activities. The cover includes - free of charge - all the work being carried out by our claim handling staff, who are all have shipping experience and will do their utmost to bring defence claims to a quickest possible solution. Do I really need cover? Ship and cargo are together during the voyage, but the parties to be identified in the transport chain are not. Certain liabilities are inherent to transport activities and cannot be avoided. It should not be under-estimated that an important aspect of the insurance cover are the costs that can be recovered under this insurance. All costs which have to be made to defend a liability claim are covered under our MultiModal insurance. In defending a claim it may be necessary to incur survey expenses and lawyers fees. Even if you are not liable, but a party is pursuing a claim, the costs for such unwarranted liability claim are also covered.
