XENON Accelerating Exploration Mineral, oil and gas exploration is an expensive and challenging process. In a way, drilling a hole is easy. The difficult part is determining exactly where to drill. To reduce uncertainty in drilling and production of oil, mineral and gas company geologists and engineers conduct sophisticated and complex simulations and seismic analyses, including 3D modelling representing the fluid and rock properties of the subsurface and 4D modelling technology that includes production histories. XENON provides a range of tailored and innovative computing solutions for oil and gas exploration which include: STORAGE SOLUTIONS XENON NAS XENON S highly scalable and efficient NAS storage solutions enable customers to accelerate time to results, scale simply as data sets continue to grow and gain competitive advantage through resolving performance and capacity scaling challenges. Benefits Cost-effective, complete storage solutions for space conscious environments Custom designed hardware and NAS software Easy to install and run Simple management and backup operations Improved utilisation of storage resources Centralised platform for cost effective scaling

PANASAS ACTIVESTOR 14 Leading energy firms use Panasas high performance storage to increase the speed and accuracy with which they identify the location of future oil exploration sites. This is most evident in seismic data acquisition and processing, where 4D seismic imaging are required. ActiveStor 14 storage appliances provide exceptional performance at an affordable price, storing large files on high capacity SATA drives while leveraging SSD technology to accelerate small file and metadata performance for lightning-fast response times. Benefits Extreme Performance SSD accelerated for lightning-fast response time and parallel access for massive throughput Linear Scalability Single file system scales to 8PB and 150GB/s or 1.4M IOPS Ease of Management Single point of management; no more islands of storage Unsurpassed Data Protection Object RAID delivers high reliability and the fastest RAID rebuilds

GPU COMPUTING SOLUTIONS NVIDIA Tesla K20 GPU accelerator The fastest, most efficient HPC companion processor ever built. NVIDIA Kepler GPU Computing Accelerators are the world s fastest and most efficient high performance computing (HPC) companion processors. Based on the Kepler compute architecture, which is 3 times higher performance per watt than the previous Fermi compute architecture, the Tesla Kepler GPU Computing Accelerators make hybrid computing dramatically easier, and applicable to a broader set of computing applications. NVIDIA Tesla GPUs deliver the best performance and power efficiency for seismic processing, biochemistry simulations, weather and climate modelling, image, video and signal processing, computational finance, computational physics, CAE, CFD, and data analytics. The innovative design of the Kepler compute architecture includes: SMX (streaming multiprocessor) design that delivers up to 3x more performance per watt It also delivers 1 petaflop of computing in just 10 server racks. Dynamic Parallelism capability that enables GPU threads to automatically spawn new threads Hyper-Q feature that enables multiple CPU cores to simultaneously utilize the CUDA cores on a single Kepler GPU, dramatically increasing GPU utilization, slashing CPU idle times, and advancing programmability

VISUALISATION SYSTEMS XENON s visualisation solutions feature NVIDIA Quadro SVS (scalable visualisation solution) supporting up to 16 display from a single workstation. They can easily deploy multiple displays across a desktop, build an expansive digital signage wall, or create a stereoscopic 3D CAVE with XENON s visualisation solutions. Connect up to 16 displays from a single workstation. Easily expand your display space across multiple displays with NVIDIA Quadro Mosaic technology. Span any application across up to 16 high-resolution displays, from a single workstation, without sacrificing performance or image quality. Display in immersive 3D stereoscopic view. See and share your work in a stereoscopic 3D environment from a range of display solutions. With Quadro Mosaic technology, NVIDIA 3D Vision Pro solutions, and Quadro GPUs you can view your ideas in true 3D across multiple displays and projectors. Project in ultra-high resolution. View graphically rich content with more intricate detail from multiple projectors including 4K with Quadro Mosaic technology. Quadro high-end solutions deliver advanced features that enable the GPU to perform the geometry and intensity adjustments needed for multiprojector environments. The result is a true single-display experience with multiple projectors.

HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING SOLUTIONS High-performance computing (HPC) pushes the envelope of traditional computing performance to solve advanced computation problems across a wide range of vertical markets. HPC uses supercomputers and computer clusters to solve complex engineering problems and includes computational fluid dynamics, simulation, modelling and seismic tomography (particularly in the petrochemical industry). In order to ascertain accurate and detailed information data is tested on High Performance Computer clusters starting at (128+ cores) on a small scale spanning to (10,000+ cores) for serious number crunching. XENON provides tailored HPC computing solutions with highbandwidth, low-latency connections between dozens or hundreds of multi-processor, multi-core CPUs /GPUs and high-speed storage systems. XENON s solutions are highly flexible with enhanced HPC system efficiency which results in the production of quality oil and gas engineering simulations.

HIGH SPEED INTERCONNECTS Oil and gas companies use high-performance computing solutions to minimize the time involved in processing the massive amounts of data, to accelerate reservoir and seismic simulations, and to perform more complex simulations. Those engineering simulations are essential in order to reduce costs and speed time to production. Therefore, these companies must invest in the required infrastructure to empower their engineers with the most advanced high-performance computing (HPC) resources. XENON s range of Mellanox s 56Gb/s InfiniBand and 40Gb/s Ethernet interconnect solutions are designed for multi-core cluster environments and can efficiently handle multiple data streams simultaneously while guaranteeing fast and reliable data transfers for each of the streams. With latency as low as 1 microsecond, throughput as high as 40Gb/s, extreme message rate and low CPU overhead, Mellanox solutions enable fast and highly scalable communication among server processing units and storage systems, and therefore maximize the HPC system utilization into the high 90 percentile range, on average 50% higher than other networking solutions.
