The Nursing Program at Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City offers Advanced Standing to licensed practical nurses that hold current unencumbered licensure, and have graduated from a non-acen accredited program. The student must also complete all required prerequisite courses. Successful completion of the course of study qualifies the graduate to take the examination for registered nurse licensure. The course of study includes classroom and laboratory instruction on campus and supervised clinical experience in affiliating health agencies. The nursing program is approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, 2915 N. Classen Blvd., Ste 524, Oklahoma City, OK 73106 www.ok.gov/nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326 www.acenursing.org. It is possible to complete the nursing courses in three semesters. However, if the student has other responsibilities such as family or job, he/she may elect to enroll in general education and related courses before seeking admission to the nursing courses. Admission into the clinical nursing courses through Advanced Standing is on a space available basis.
