THE LAUNCHING SYSTEM The Elastec X150 Skimmer Launching System is a turning The self-contained system includes all of the operating point in mechanical offshore and nearshore oil spill recovery components: launcher, X150 skimmer, boom and reel, technology. The revolutionary new system collects, wireless remote control, BoomVane and power unit. encounters, skims, pumps and transfers high volumes Hydraulic and discharge hoses are built into the sweep of light to heavy oils in stationary and advancing modes boom, eliminating external umbilical. The complete from zero to three knots, with only one towing vessel package fits into a 20 (6m) high-cube container for and requires only three responders. rapid global shipment. DEPLOY / COLLECT / ENCOUNTER / SKIM / PUMP / TRANSFER Eliminates External Umbilical Modular Design AN ENVIRONMENTALLY INTELLIGENT SYSTEM FROM THE INDUSTRY INNOVATOR ELASTEC. Wirelessly remote-controlled and powered by an integrated power pack, the launcher telescopes and winches the X150 skimmer from the stern of the vessel into the water. Replaces Towing Vessel The centerpiece of the system is the X150 skimmer incorporating Elastec s award-winning, patented grooved disc technology that won the X Prize Foundation s Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup X CHALLENGE. It has a verified nameplate oil recovery rate (ORR) of 660 gallons of oil per minute (150 cubic metres per hour) and an oil recovery efficiency (ORE) of 90%.* Eliminating the need for a second towing vessel, the BoomVane, powered only by the current, swings the opposing boom leg in to a U-shaped sweep configuration to collect and guide the oil to the X150 skimmer. Attached to the X150 is rugged, single-point inflation oil sweep boom. Hydraulic and discharge hoses are integrated into the oil boom, eliminating external umbilical. *Nameplate capacity of the ELASTEC X150 skimmer has been recognized by the United States Coast Guard. ORR 660 gpm (150 cu. m)* Single Point Inflation

EVOLUTION OF THE ELASTEC There was a noticeable void in efficient mechanical oil recovery equipment in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010. Managing the controlled burn operation, Elastec saw an opportunity to develop a better skimmer as did Wendy Schmidt and the X Prize Foundation working together to solve the world s grand challenges. The Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup X CHALLENGE was the inspiration for a global incentive to create a new generation of highly efficient, rapidly deployable mechanical systems to remove spilled oil from the ocean s surface. Team Elastec won the $1 million top prize with its revolutionary grooved disc skimming technology. ELASTEC IS PROUD TO INTRODUCE THE LAUNCHING SYSTEM, A REVOLUTIONARY OIL SPILL RECOVERY SYSTEM TO KEEP OUR WORLD CLEAN.
