Are We Overstretched?
Since September 11 th, 2001 More than 8,350 Soldiers of the Virginia Army National Guard and 2,000 Airmen of the Virginia Air National Guard have entered active federal service in support Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Air Expeditionary Force operations. Over 5,470 Soldiers of the Virginia Army National Guard have mobilized in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Over 1,400 Soldiers of the Virginia Army National Guard and 440 Airmen of the Virginia Air National Guard have mobilized in support of Operation Noble Eagle Over 1,480 Soldiers of the Virginia Army National Guard and 370 Airmen of the Virginia Air National Guard have mobilized in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Over 300 Airmen of the Virginia Air National Guard have mobilized in support of Air Expeditionary Force operations in South West Asia.
