March 1983 - Sept. 1986 Full Circle, Sebastopol, CA Day Program Coordinator Co-created and coordinated the structure of the on-grounds school program for sixteen adolescent boys. The boys had a history of multiple program placements and school failures. Co-facilitated 4 groups a week with our psychiatrist and social worker. Supervised a team of eight adults. These children had been severely traumatized by a wide variety of abuses. Provided individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, guidance, and structure. Professional Experience continued Dec. 1978 - Oct. 1979 Bachmann Hill School, Booneville, CA Child Care Worker Counselor in long-term probation school for adolescents, age 12-17. Responsible for care, structure, love, and guidance of twenty boys and thirty-six girls. Set therapeutic limits, daily structure and provided crisis intervention in volatile situations. Aug 1977 - Dec 1978 Springfield Housing Authority, Springfield, MA Outreach Worker Contact person to over sixty families, in two low-income housing projects. Worked with single parents and problem families. Developed educational programs: weekly alcohol programs, teen rap groups and tax help. Implemented the Owl Adult Educational Program and was instrumental in the vandalized recreation center being rebuilt and reopened. Became an advocate and functioned in a Big Brother capacity to several boys. Oct 1975 - Aug 1977 Springfield Center for Alcohol Treatment and Education (S.C.A.T.E.), Springfield, MA Alcohol Counselor Initially hired as a volunteer student intern. Worked over 1200 hours field practicum. Hired as a full time counselor after graduation. Job duties included individual and group counseling, outreach work, family work, testing. Created the speaker s bureau and lectured at local junior and senior high schools and colleges.
