Each transcript must record all courses taken, grades received and degrees earned. An official transcript bears the original signature of the registrar and/or the original seal of the issuing institution. Photocopies and facsimiles are unofficial. Most universities and colleges have a policy whereby official transcripts may be given to students in a sealed and signed envelope. Applicants who have such a service available to them may send transcripts prepared in this manner to The Office of Graduate Admission. If official electronic transcripts are available, they may be submitted to graddepaul@depaul.edu. The university requires a minimum TOEFL score of 80 on the TOEFL ibt, 213 on the computer-based test or 550 on the paper-based test. While applicants who meet the university minimum will be reviewed, most graduate programs prefer TOEFL scores of at least 96 on the TOEFL ibt, 243 on the computer-based test or 590 on the paperbased test. Please visit toefl.org for more information. Please note that TOEFL cannot be waived for any applicant educated in a country where the native language is not officially recognized as English. Financial Documentation Students who plan to apply for F-1 or J-1 student visa status are required by U.S. immigration law to submit evidence of adequate funding to meet the estimated tuition and living expenses for their first year of study before the I-20 or DS- 2019 form can be issued. Applicants must submit a financial affidavit of support form along with a current, dated and original bank statement verifying the availability of funds for the required amount. Documents must be written in English or accompanied by an official translation and must have been issued within the past six months. DePaul is not responsible if the amount of funds shown as available by the student or sponsor on the affidavit of support becomes unavailable after the date on this affidavit. Passport Copy All students requiring an I-20 or DS-2019 from DePaul must submit a copy of the identification page of their passport with their financial documents. Transferring Your I-20 Form If you currently have F-1 visa status and attend another school, college, university or English-language program in the U.S. and are admitted to DePaul, you must receive a new DePaul I-20 form. Please submit the financial documents and copy of your passport as outlined above, along with a copy of your current I-20 form, I-94 card and the completed Transfer Release Form. For more information, visit depaul.edu/international. The documents outlined above are not required for admission, but are necessary for the issuance of an I-20 form. Please note that I-20 forms can be issued only to students who are accepted to DePaul in full-time, degreeseeking programs. For questions about a change of status, please contact the Office for International Students and Scholars at (312) 362-8376 to schedule an appointment with an advisor.
