Since most staff members learn on the job, Medicare myths still prevail in the industry. In this session, the presenters will go to the source documents to bust the myths and review the basics of what is required to operate a Medicare certified home health agency in Illinois and where to go for information and assistance. PURPOSE: To bust the myths and review the basics of what is required to operate a Medicare certified home health agency in Illinois. OBJECTIVES Describe the rules and regulations agencies must meet in order to be in compliance with Illinois licensing laws and Medicare regulations. Describe how to provide required infection control equipment and services in the role as health care employers. We will review various wound types, assessment criteria and wound care options. We will discuss the wound changes in the Oasis C-1 document. We will also discuss options for developing a wound care team and medical supply formulary at your agency. OBJECTIVES Identify characteristics of venous, arterial, diabetic, pressure and surgical wounds. Discuss pressure ulcer staging. Identify treatment options for: venous, arterial, diabetic and pressure ulcers; surgical wounds and skin tears.
