! Interna'onal congress on Cancer cell death and resistance May 6 and 7, 2013 h"p://kcelldeath.sciencesconf.org Golf of Seilh Near to Toulouse (Midi-Pyrénées, 31, France)

Introduction Content : ² Introduction ² General presentation ² Program ² Committees ² Sponsors Resistance to an7- cancer regimens and to the immune system contributes to cancer progression and therapeu7c failure. The molecular mechanisms, which control the resistance of tumor cells towards the immune system and an7cancer therapies are not yet fully elucidated. A be"er knowledge of the signaling pathways involved in both phenomena should contribute to the development of novel an7- cancer therapeu7c strategies. Two recent scien7fic mee7ngs on cell death in oncology have been recently organized in France : The first mee7ng was a workshop in Dijon (Burgundy, France) organized by Dr. O. Micheau (INSERM UMR 866) in July 2009. This mee7ng was en7tled «Death- Domain- containing receptors and scaffold adaptors : fundamental and therapeu7c trails to cancer and immune diseases» (h"p://inserm- u866.u- bourgogne.fr/workshop Dijon/accueil_workshop.html). This workshop facilitated the mee7ng of about 50 French and interna7onal scien7sts and the establishment of collabora7ve projects. Thanks to the organiza7on commi"ee from Rennes (Bri"any, France) (Drs. P. Legembre, T. Guillaudeux, M.T. Dimanche- Boitrel) and the ac7ve par7cipa7on of scien7sts from different French laboratories, an interna7onal congress en7tled «Cell Death in cancer» was organized in May 2012 in St Malo (h"p:// www.celldeathincancer.com/welcome.php). This 4- day congress was very successful with 150 par7cipants, including pres7gious na7onal and interna7onal speakers. Taking into account the success of both scien7fic mee7ngs, the recurrent organiza7on of congress appears to be essen7al to structure the research on cell death in oncology in France. On May 6-7, 2013, we are organizing an interna7onal mee7ng on cancer cell death and resistance to be held at the Golf of Seilh, near to Toulouse- Blagnac Airport (France). Web site of the congress: h"p://kcelldeath.sciencesconf.org Web site of the hotel: h"p://www.accorhotels.com/fr/hotel- 8244- mercure- toulouse- golf- de- seilh/index.shtml

General Presentation Main topics of the congress : Apoptosis signaling and resistance : Novel molecular mechanisms modulating caspase activation and resistance of cancer cells. Alternative (non- apoptotic) cell death signaling pathways and resistance : Recently identified molecular pathways from different organelles (endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, lysosome ), modulating cell death signaling in cancer cells. Cancer cell death and immune response : Modulation of the anti- cancer immune response by cell death. Resistance of cancer cells to the immune system. Main Objectives ü To mobilize the French and international scientific communities on the topic of cell death in oncology. ü To reinforce the dynamism of the French research in this competitive field by facilitating the establishment of a French network with diverse and complimentary expertise. ü To foster exchanges between young and senior scientists and favor collaborative, original and ambitious projects in the oncology field. Our Ambitions ü To propose prestigious seminars by famous international speakers. ü To propose oral and poster communications by young scientists. The congress will be organized in Toulouse with the participation of young and senior scientists from academic and private laboratories.
