Why hosting a FOT-Net meeting? (1/2) Novel approaches & technologies: research is relevant to the ITS and automotive domain (notably «embedded systems» and «telco»); ITS is chosen as a promising inter-area research challenge. We are close to industry: 28% of SSSA budget comes from private investment; similar figures apply to CNIT; Ericsson Optical & Metro R&D division co-located in the same settlement. May 9th, 2012 Paolo Pagano (CNIT) 8
Why hosting a FOT-Net meeting? (2/2) IPERMOB: Urban ITS as the target: pervasive, low-cost, environmentally sustainable; Cost: 3.3 MEur budget (75% funded by Tuscan Executive Board); Real deployment at the landside of Pisa Airport. Project ended on June 30th, 2011; follow-up in preparation; another project under negotiation at FP7; possibility of running long-lasting FOTs on Cooperative Systems; Tuscan Executive Board might consider to host FOTs and large scale experiments on the road network. 21 smart cameras monitoring: Smart cameras as an effective replacement of traditional sensors; 83 parking spaces; 8 traffic lanes. Vehicular network compliant with IEEE802.11p for V2I communication. May 9th, 2012 Paolo Pagano (CNIT) 9
