Candidacy STEP 1 Contact the district via email with candidacy request. Send request for candidacy via email or letter to the District Superintendent (DS) and/or Associate District Superintendent (ADS) and the Chair of the District Committee on Ministry (dcom) explaining your call. STEP 2 Submit initial paperwork. Complete and submit the following to Rev. Samuel Padgett or clergy.services@inumc.org: Submit Application for Candidacy Orientation Retreat (Form ACOR): Winter Orientation Retreat is January 9-10, 2015; deadline for registration is December 1, 2014. Winter location: Benedictine Inn, 1402 Southern Avenue, Beech Grove, 46107 Complete the Background Screening request (emailed to you). Submit check payable to the Indiana Conference for $100. Complete and submit the following to the dcom Chair: Submit copy of ACOR Submit Form 114 (Disclosure)
Candidacy STEP 3 Meet with Staff Parish Committee at your church. Submit Form 104 b (Staff Parish Recommendation) to your dcom Chair. STEP 4 Retreat Preparation Meet with DS, ADS, and/or dcom Chair. DS invites to OCAS (Online Candidacy Application System). Respond to online invitation to OCAS. Complete OCAS steps up to and including payment of $75 and ordering Fulfilling God s Call. In OCAS: complete Personal Data Inventory (PDI), Personal & Professional Reference List (PPRL) and download Release of Information. Read first two sections of Fulfilling God s Call. Notify dcom Chair that all of the above have been completed. Notify Samuel Padgett when all steps are complete to confirm attendance at Candidacy Orientation Retreat by Dec 1 for January Orientation. Attend the Candidacy Orientation retreat (All steps above, with exception of Form 104 b & c, must be complete before attending the retreat.)
Candidacy STEP 5 Prepare for Certification Meet regularly with Candidacy Mentoring Group Continue preparation for certification interview Attend psychological interview at Buchanan Counseling Center ($130 payable at time of interview) Submit the following forms to the dcom Chair: Form B Financial Form 100 Form 103 Medical Form 104 b & c (if not previously submitted) Written answers to Paragraph 310.2.a found in The Book of Discipline All transcripts to date Other materials as requested. Meet with dcom for certification interview.

Local Pastor s COS Course Of Study (COS) The Indiana Conference Extension Course of Study School is a nonresidential United Methodist School offering the approved curriculum of the Division of Ordained Ministry of the United Methodist Church. Fall and spring sessions are offered. The Indiana Extension School is only open to part-time local pastors who have completed one of the Licensing Schools and are currently under appointment.
