There are options available for clients to have access to elastic or burstable capacity, typically these are guaranteed. The platform is provided ready for clients to define table and database structures and begin loading data. This data is held on a persistent basis. Clients are able to access the data via a range of end-user tool options. A basic query tool is provided with the base offering as it is expected that clients will provide their own tools; based on their current standards, skills and user familiarity. The Teradata Data Warehouse Platform utilises Teradata s latest database release. Teradata continues to enhance and improve the database adding new features and functionality to support advanced analytics. Recent enhancements include Teradata Intelligent Memory and Teradata Columnar. Teradata Intelligent Memory is a new, innovative database technology that significantly increases query performance and maximises the value of data warehouse memory resources. It is an example of Teradata s innovation and industry leadership no other vendor provides this capability. With Teradata Intelligent Memory, the hottest, most frequently used data is automatically and transparently kept in memory for faster query performance, resulting in quicker answers for better decision making and analysis.

Classification: Open 3 The Teradata Database also includes the Teradata Columnar feature which provides true hybrid column and row storage, this reduces I/O and provides extreme performance. This means the best internal table storage organization can be used for data. Tables which are commonly accessed by queries which only use a subset of the columns can be stored in a column orientation so that only those columns referenced by the query are read from disk. Row Level Security is also included. It provides the capability to control data access based on security policies, data sensitivity classifications, and security credentials assigned to users. Additional security options are available see Optional Components below. One key differentiator of the Teradata database is its advanced workload management capabilities. This enables the platform and underlying data to be used by a wide range and significant number of users for a diverse range of purposes of varying complexity and allows system resources to be dynamically managed to achieve service level goals. This is managed by setting performance groups and the use of filters, throttles and threshold exception actions that maximise use of system resource, with a fair allocation and minimal involvement of database administration resource (once set the system is self-managing). The Teradata Data Warehouse Platform includes an extensive range of utilities that cover: System Management Teradata Viewpoint, Teradata Viewpoint Portlets Data Loading Teradata Parallel Transporter (Export, Load, and Update Operators), Teradata Studio (allows the end user to load Teradata and Hadoop) Data Management Teradata Meta Data Services, Teradata Administrator, Teradata Analyst Pack Connectivity via Open Standard API s including: ODBC, JDBC, CLI, OLE DB Provider,.NET Data Provider, Plug-in for Eclipse, Data Connector, Database File Export, Appliance Backup Utility SQL Generation Teradata SQL Assistant, Basic Teradata Query Utility, Teradata Studio The Teradata Data Lab product is included in the solution (to be used at the option of clients). This refers to work spaces within the data warehouse where users can explore and analyse new data to test theories. Data lab users can add new data into their lab and link it with any existing data inside the warehouse that their access rights permit them to see with assurances and mechanisms for protecting the production workload form any impact on performance. The Data Lab product is accessed via a series of portlets; these provide self-service administration for users and a clear visibility for governance purposes. The Teradata Data Warehouse Platform is hosted in a secure, highly resilient, Tier3 UK sovereign data centre provided by MDS. A number of optional components are available at additional cost: Backup, Archive and Restore (BAR) Teradata can offer a comprehensive Backup and Archive solution with the Teradata Data Warehouse Platform that facilitates full Restore capability (BAR). If the client requires a dedicated BAR subsystem a Teradata advocated BAR solution can be configured in collaboration with the client to meet restore / recoverability requirements. This can include cloud, disk or tape back-up and off-site storage. Managed Services For both Data Integration and end-user tools, individual deployments may require managed services as part of the architectural deployment. These can be added on as optional components. Security Services Teradata can also optionally provide security services and tools dependant on the client s requirements, including security requirements assessment, hardening, and controls review. This includes data encryption solution options provided by Teradata and by third parties e.g. Protegrity for in-database encryption and or tokenization capability. Teradata Aster and Hadoop Teradata has been a leader in traditional analytics and data warehousing for over 30 years since these technologies were first developed. In recent years Big Data has seen an extension of these capabilities and

Classification: Open 4 Teradata continues to be at the forefront of delivering world-class analytics. As part of G-Cloud Teradata is also able to offer solutions that include: Hadoop via the Teradata Appliance for Hadoop, using the 100% open source Hortonworks Data Platform software on proven Teradata hardware. This provides easy storage and refining of multistructured data, proactive systems monitoring, intuitive management portals, continuous availability, and linear scalability in one package. Teradata Aster Discovery Platform: the market leading discovery platform for big data that provides a complete solution for visual, interactive, fast big analytic applications that require minimal time and effort. Aster Discovery provides a broad range of advanced analytics capability that makes use of the MapReduce programming framework but don t require specialist coding skills by users. Teradata Aster provides access to (over 70) common MapReduce functions via parameters that can be embedded into standard SQL commands. Information Assurance Suitable for OFFICIAL and OFFICIAL SENSITIVE data. This service would typically be included within the Customer s overall accreditation profile. On-Boarding and Off-Boarding processes Teradata has a well-defined on-boarding process that cover the key elements; including: Technical requirements definition, platform configuration and set-up Network requirements; connectivity, bandwidth, security specification and set-up Administration ordering, invoice, and change processes System hand-over to client Off boarding is similarly straightforward; though variable dependent on a client s requirements for data transition (migration to an alternate platform, archiving, secure removal). The Teradata platform is fully compliant with the G-cloud data extraction/ removal requirements: all aspects of client data can be removed; typically in entirety by default and in ASCII, EBCDIC, UTF-8, and UTF-16 format. Pricing for this is variable based on volumes and complexity. Pricing Model From 1,100 per month per terabyte of client data stored. Data migration services are available, based on our SFIA rates. Service Management MDS will provide customers with access to it s Service Desk for logging faults and restore requests. Faults and requests will be initially assessed by MDS and passed to Teradata if required to resolve. Service Constraints The Teradata Data Warehouse for Analytics is highly resilient. There are no significant service constraints to the Teradata solution. Planned Maintenance will be scheduled outside of normal access hours. For high availability we can implement a hot-standby system so there are no outages (planned or unplanned).

Classification: Open 5 Service Levels Teradata provides a range of support options for the platform. Teradata systems have an inherently high availability due to their design and architecture: including no-single-point of failure, redundant components, disk mirroring, node failover with cliquing. This availability can be further enhanced with BAR capability and with a secondary system as stand-by (hot or cold). We can include a number of configuration options to meet an individual client s performance and availability requirements. Support is provided at two levels depending on the clients specific requirements: Premier Support combines hardware/software maintenance and support with reactive incident management. This provides rapid system restoration of in the event of a failure. In addition, Teradata utilises highly developed processes, focused resources and experience supporting highly available systems to deliver World-class maintenance and support. Critical System Management is a set of operational and proactive services delivered by Teradata Customer Services to minimize risks to system availability.
