Part I: Program Details A series of intensive and enriching activities is arranged in the 5-day summer program, which include campus tour, sample classes on various topics, information sessions and one-on-one consultation, enrichment talk/company visit and Hong Kong tour/free activities. Sample Classes Information Sessions One-on-one Consultation Session Enrichment Talk/Company Visit Free Activities i) Sample Classes A variety of topics, which cover Marketing in Emerging Markets, Managerial Decision-making, Business Modeling and Optimization, Global Operations Management, Management Accounting, and Topics in Macroeconomics will be discussed on 16-17 July 2013 (Tue-Wed). These topics are the highlights of the four one-year full-time MSc programs mentioned above and are taken from the real content of the actual programs. The sample classes are taught by our world-class faculties teaching the MSc programs. Various teaching techniques and methods, such as interactive lectures, case discussions, simulation game and group discussions/presentations, are used for enhancing participants intellectual and experiential learning. ii) Information Sessions Information sessions will be held after the interactive lectures for participants to get to know more detailed program features and admission requirements of all the MSc programs on 18 July 2013 (Thu). A dedicated timeslot will be given to each MSc program to introduce the program features. Academic Directors, or representatives, of these MSc programs are invited to explain the curriculum and program design. Application logistics will also be discussed at the information sessions so that participants can start to prepare for their application after joining the summer program. iii) One-on-one Consultation Participants will also be able to meet with the programs senior management and program team for one-on-one consultation to see if the programs fit with their interest. This is a valuable chance to ask relevant questions pertaining to the program content and application details of the various programs. iv) Enrichment Talk/Company Visit An enrichment talk/company visit will be arranged so that each participant will have the chance to learn about the insights of a Hong Kong company and expand their business exposure by networking with the professionals/practitioners in the industry. Part III: Eligible Participants University students in their 3rd/4th year of study or recent graduates within two years who would like to pursue master studies in the coming years are welcome to apply for the summer program. Participants with business background at university study or with strong quantitative background will have an advantage. Participants are expected to come from all over the world, including China, Hong Kong, Asia, Europe, or the US, and will form a diversified class with different cultures. 2
Part IV: Program Fee For non-hong Kong participants, the total program fee for the 5-day summer program is HKD8,500 (approximately equivalent to EURO850, or USD1,100, or RMB7,000). Fees include the academic content, course materials of all the sample classes, information sessions, one-on-one consultations, enrichment talk/company visit, meals, transportation between hotel and campus or activity venue, hotel accommodation, etc.. Airfare and travelling expenses are not included in the program fee. For Hong Kong participants who do not need hotel accommodation, the total program fee for the 5- day summer program is HKD5,000 (HKUST current students/alumni can enjoy a 50% discount of HKD2,500). Fees include the academic content, course materials of all the sample classes, information sessions, one-on-one consultations, enrichment talk/company visit, meals, transportation between campus and activity venue, etc.. Participants are required to settle the program fee within two weeks if they are shortlisted to attend the summer program. Payment method will be announced to successful applicants. The paid program fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. Part V: Travelling and Accommodation Arrangements The HKUST MSc Program Office will arrange hotel accommodation for twin-sharing among the participants during 15-19 July 2013 (4 nights). The HKUST MSc Program Office has the discretion to assign participants based on their background in order to have a better mix of the class. Participants are advised to make their own travel arrangements in advance, including flight schedule, airport transfer, valid travel visa to Hong Kong and also travel insurance (if needed). Part VI: Application Interested participants can apply by filling in the attached application form and send to mscprogram@ust.hk before the deadline. Late applications will not be considered. The HKUST MSc Program Office will screen the applicants with good academic performance, and satisfactory GMAT/GRE and TOEFL/IELTS results. Qualified applicants will be shortlisted and confirmed for successful application.
