The Air conditioner room acts as a return air plenum, there is some ducting in the ceiling from a previous installation of a Liebert 15 ton CRAC which sported an older type IT configuration. Photos of the return air duct entrance into the room and the return air ductwork in the ceiling are attached. Some general specifications of the existing ductwork are a 89 x 30 hood entering the air conditioning room plenum which is sized progressively smaller to 12 return air vents distributed throughout the room. The ductwork working space is constrained by other air conditioning system ducting which is in service and by trusses sporting the roof. The 2 Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units are each: Mfg: Liebert Model FH290AUA10 Generic Model Deluxe System 3 with Level 10 Control Capacity 22 tons (24.2 tons nominal capacity) Velocity FPM 550 (from Liebert opns / mtce manual) Length FT 31 (maximum run length from plenum entry to CRAC room) Required sq ft 16.4 (from Liebert opns / mtce manual) Flow Rate cfm: 12,000 cfm (from newer model of same size Liebert Technical Data manual Multiply totals x 2 for server room requirements to sport the two units..
The server room has been set with air and Cold air aisles between rows of racks. The cold air aisles have 18 x 6 adjustable floor vents and the Aisles will have 2 x 2 adjustable return air registers over the back of each row of racks. See attached print for the layout of the room and the rows of racks. Some of the racks will contain blade servers or will contain high density rack mounted servers, either of which have higher cooling requirements than a rack of older servers or other equipment that by its nature does not have high cooling requirements. Accordingly, the County will be tuning the air flow for high air flow from the floor vents to the hot racks and in the ceiling vents over the hot racks back to the CRAC units. Vents splying or providing for air return over racks with less density will be partially closed to achieve high cooling in the high demand racks. Accordingly, the system flow capacity should be over designed by 20% to allow for this tuning. Requirements: The county desires that 43 Hart & Cooley 2 x 2 all aluminum return air registers be installed as follows: A Row 7 B Row 7 C Row 7 Console Spt 1 D Row 11 E Row 10 Total 43 These registers will include horizontal face bars set at forty degrees with opposed blade adjustable dampers. The registers will be lay-in type with bright white finish. The registers will be located in the suspended ceiling in accordance with the attached plan and will be ducted back to the existing main return air trunk lines to achieve proper air flow, or will be ducted to a replacement main return air trunk line of the vendors design which achieves proper air flow. Requirements: The County requires that the return air system be able to deliver the required air flow needed by the two units operating simultaneously using the specified ceiling return air vents. The return air system to sply the two Computer Room Air Conditioning units may reuse the existing ceiling ductwork with appropriate seals being applied to the former return air vents if this ducting is of sufficient capacity. The CRAC unit operating parameters are above. The project can be achieved by installing flexible or fixed ducting between the new ceiling vents and the existing vent ductwork or by installing totally new ductwork. However the solution is designed, the respondent will show the appropriate air flow calculations to show that the system can deliver the required air flow when the quote is submitted. The vendor will clean and dispose of all old equipment removed from service and job waste once the job is completed. A walk through with staff from the Division of Computer Services is mandatory to submit a quote.
