National Recognition and Credit Transfer Policy Purpose This policy ensures that Vocation RTO s have arrangements in place to: Recognise the AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued to students by any other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) within Australia. Ensure that students who have previously completed a learning program have access to credit transfers where components of their completed learning program have been identified as equivalent to the course in which they are enrolling. Definitions Credit Transfer Credit transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications. 1 Policy 1. National Recognition 2.1 Credit Transfer will be granted where students have previously completed qualifications or units that are reocgnised as being equivalent to those in a qualification or unit/s of a student s enrolment with Vocation RTO s. 2.2 Credit Transfers will be based on established credit agreements with other RTOs or higher education institutions or on guidance provided in the relevant Training Packages about equivalence between superseded and current Training Packages. 2.3 The process will be undertaken prior to the student commencing their course and there is no charge for the service. 2.4 Students are informed of their right to apply for Credit Transfers in the Student Handbook. 2. Authenticity and Integrity of documents 3.1 Vocation RTO s ensures the integrity of National Recognition and Credit Transfers by basing decisions on certified copies of testamurs, records of results and statements of attainment only. 3.2 Vocation RTO s will take reasonable measures to ensure that the documents provided are authentic, that they have been issued by a registered provider and the qualifications and/or units are nationally recognised. 3.3 Vocation RTO s ensure adherence to the Privacy Policy at all times. 3.4 All documents used to issue students with National Recognition and Credit Transfer will be stored securely. Purpose This policy outlines the process by which Vocation will: Issue credit transfers to students. Recognise the qualifications and statements of attainment issued by any other Registered Training Organisations in Australia. Definitions National Recognition is defined as: Recognition by an RTO of the AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by all other RTOs, thereby enabling national recognition of the qualifications and statements of attainment issued to any person. 1 Credit Transfer is defined as: Credit transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcoms between matched qualifications. 2 Procedure 1. b) Where national unit of competency codes are stated as attained on a transcript and the same unit of competency is included in the student s enrolment, National Recognition will be granted. c) Notify the student of the outcome of the National Recognition assessment by advising them in writing of the units attained through National (If Credit Transfers also apply, notify them of the CT outcome in the same letter). d) National Recognition granted is to be recorded on the Training Plan with a signature and date from the person issuing the recognition. 1.4 Record recognition of qualifications and statements of attainment. 2. Credit Transfer a) National Recognition is to be recorded with a NR code (AVETMISS 60) on the Student Management System. identified as equivalent and no credit can be given where units are partly equivalent. d) In issuing Credit Transfers, consider any established agreements with other providers that outline agreed equivalencies. e) Credit Transfers granted are to be recorded against the relevant unit on the Training Plan with a signature and date from the person issuing the recognition. 2.4 Record Credit Transfers. b) Credit transfer is to be recorded with a CT code (AVETMISS 60) on the Student Management System.
