he inancial id Process tudent applies for admission and indicates on their application that they are interested in financial aid and they will receive a financial aid packet. r, an interested student can call and request a financial aid packet. hey will be mailed a financial aid packet that includes a description of the financial aid offered, deadline dates, how to apply for aid, tuition/fees, credit hours by semester and a list of outside scholarship resources and loan repayment programs. tudents can begin applying for aid after January 1 st of the year they plan on attending (for example if a student plans to attend all 2014, they can apply for aid after January 1, 2014). he following forms must be completed to apply for financial aid: 1. ree pplication for ederal tudent id () online 2. Vanderbilt Graduate/Professional inancial id and cholarship pplication online. student must be enrolled in at least 6 hours a semester to receive financial aid. student must be full time (12 hours or more a semester unless their full time curriculum requires less than 12 hours in any semester) to receive a nursing scholarship. nce a student is admitted and has matriculated, their name will appear in the financial aid system as a student that is ready to be awarded financial aid. he awarding process for new students begins in pril when they are sent an award letter. or returning students, the process begins in mid-june after spring grades have been determined. n example of an official award letter is on the other side of this sheet. ursing scholarships are processed at the chool of ursing. or 1 st year/new students, scholarships are based on a weighted average of the students G score and G.P.. We offer 3 full scholarships each year. or those students that received a full scholarship, their G s average 1190 or higher and their GP s averaged 3.85 or higher. he loans we offer are ederal Direct Unsubsidized tafford Loans, ederal Direct Graduate PLU Loans and ederal ursing Loans. he ederal ursing loan is not awarded to every student. o be eligible for that loan (maximum award is $3,000 for the year) the student must have completed the by March 15. inancial aid is disbursed by semester. fter all financial aid has been applied to the students account, if there is a credit (meaning they borrowed more in financial aid than what was charged on their bill) they are issued a refund check. he student would use that refund money for living expenses. he direct contact for all nursing students regarding financial aid is: Kristie mith, tudent inancial ervices ffice, 212 Godchaux Hall, 615-322-8986
