Specific Information: A. For FCPS Part-I Examination: N. B. Rules for eligibility:- Cidates having full registration with BMDC are eligible to appear in FCPS Part-I examination. :- (1) The FCPS I cidates who will opt for general subjects qualify will be allowed to switch over to specialized subjects of relevant general subjects. This decision of switch over is to be informed to the College within one year from passing FCPS I. (2) The FCPS I cidates who will opt for specialized subjects qualify will not be allowed to switch over to relevant general subjects. (3) If a cidate switch over from general subject to specialized subject, he/she will not be allowed to switch over to general subject again. B. For Preliminary FCPS Part-II Examination:- Rules for eligibility: (a) Certificate to the effect that he/she has passed FCPS Part-I Examination from the Bangladesh College of Physicians Surgeons (BCPS) or College of Physicians Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). (b) Completion of two years training in relevant general subject in an Institute recognized by BCPS. Alternatively one half year training in the relevant general subject six months in a relevant speciality of the general subjects (except the speciality in which the cidate has passed FCPS I ). C. For FCPS Part-II (Final) Examination in General Subjects:- Rules for eligibility: I. a) Certificate to the effect that he/she has passed FCPS Part-I Examination from the Bangladesh College of Physicians Surgeons (BCPS) or College of Physicians Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). b) Certificate that he/she has passed MD/MS Examination from Dhaka University, BSMMU. Above mentioned Diploma/ degree must be recognized by Bangladesh Medical Dental Council (BMDC). c) MD/MS degree of 03 years course will not get exemption from FCPS-I exam. Note: MD/MS in specialized subjects will not be allowed to appear in relevant general subjects. II. a) iginal 04 / 03 years residency training certificate from the trainer eg. Professor/ Associate Professor or Consultant having FCPS degree or equivalent (as per proforma of the college) duly countersigned by the Head of the Institute/Hospital recognized by BCPS where the cidate undergone training. b) Cidates having MD, MS from D.U. BSMMU before January, 2005 will get 02 years training exemption from 03 years required training. They will have to enroll with BCPS as trainees for further 01 year have to write a dissertation. 2

III. 03 / 04 YEARS TRAINING FORMAT III-A 03 (THREE) YEARS TRAINING PROGRAM :- Cidates who have passed FCPS Part 1 before January 2005 will require certificates of: i) Two years residency training in the respective subject III.A (a) Medicine (With Course):- i. Two years residency training in Medicine One & a half year residency training in Medicine & six months in any one of the sub-specialities like: 1) Cardiology, 2) Nephrology, (3) Gastroenterology, (4) Neuro- Medicine, (5) Hepatology, (6) Endocrinology & Metabolism, (7) Pulmonology, (8) Rheumatology (9) Haematology. ii. One year academic course. III.A (b) Medicine (without course) :- One year residency training in Medicine one year residency training in any of the two sub-specialities (six months in each) as mentioned above i) Three years residency training in Medicine Two & a half years residency training in Medicine six months in any of the sub specialty as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) Two years residency training in Medicine one year residency training in any two of the sub-specialities (six month in each one) as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) III. A. (c) Surgery (With course):- i) Two years residency training in Surgery One a half years residency training in Surgery six months residency training in any of the sub-specialities like (1) thopaedic Surgery, (2) Traumatology (Casualty training in DMC, SSMC CMC, Chittagong), (3) Urology, (4) Neuro-surgery, (5) Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, (6) Paediatric Surgery, (7) Cardio-Vascular Surgery, (8) Thoracic Surgery (9) Colorectal Surgery. III. A. (d) Surgery (without course):- i) Three years residency training in Surgery Two a half years residency training in Surgery six months residency training in any one of the sub-specialties as mentioned in clause IIIAc (i) IIIA. (e) Obst. & Gynae (with course):- i) Two years residency training in Obst. & Gynae. One a half years residency training in Obst & Gynae 06 months training in any one of the following sub-specialities: (1) Feoto-Maternal Medicine, (2) Gynaecological Oncology (3) Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. 3

IIIA. (f) Obst. & Gynae (without course) ;- i) Three years residency training in Obst. & Gynae. Two a half years residency training Obst& Gynae 06 months training in any one of the subspecialities as mentioned IIIAe (i) IIIA. (g) Paediatrics (with course) ;- i) Two years residency training in Paediatrics One a half years training in Paediatrics 06 months training in any one of the following sub-specialities: (1) Neonatology, (2) Paediatric Haematology Oncology (3) Paediatric Nephrology (4) Paediatric Gastroenterology Nutrition (5) Paediatric Pulmonology (6) Paediatric Neurology & Development. One year residency training in Paediatrics one year training in any of the two sub-speciality (06 months in each) as mentioned above.. IIIA. (h) Paediatrics (without course) ;- i) Three years residency training in Paediatrics Two a half years residency training in Paediatrics 06 months training in any one of the subspecialities as mentioned IIIAg (i) Two years residency training in Paediatrics one year training in any of the two sub-specialities (06 months in each) as mentioned in IIIAg (i) IIIA. (i) The remaining subjects (With Course):- Exceptions :- i) Two years residency training in respective subjects 1) In case of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation :- i) Two years residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation a) One half years residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation b) Six months residency training in Medicine/Surgery/thopaedic Surgery /Neurology/Neuro-Surgery/ Obstetrics & Gynaecology /Paediatrics 2) In case of Dermatology & Venereology ii) One year residency training in Dermatology & Venereology It is noted that DDV qualified cidates from any university recognized by BMDC BCPS will get six months training exemption from the total period of training in Dermatology & Venereology. i 3) In case of Anaesthesiology : i) Two years residency training in Anaesthesiology. It is noted that DA qualified cidates from any University recognized by BMDC BCPS will get one year training exemption from two years training in Anaesthesiology. 4) In case of Haematology ii) One year residency training in Haematology i 4

IIIA. (j) The remaining subjects (without course) :- Three years residency training in respective subject Exceptions :- 1. In case of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation:- (i) Three years residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. ii) Two half years residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Six months residency training in Medicine/Surgery/thopaedic Surgery/Neurology/Neuro-Surgery/ Obstetrics & Gynaecology /Paediatrics. 2. In case of Dermatology & Venereology ii) Two years residency training in Dermatology & Venereology. It is noted that DDV qualified cidates from the university recognized by BMDC BCPS will get six months training exemption from the total part of training in Dermatology & Venereology. 3. In case of Anaesthesiology: i) Three years residency training in Anaesthesiology It is noted that DA qualified cidates from any university recognized by BMDC BCPS will get one year training exemption from the total three years training in Anaesthesiology 4. In case of Haematology ii) Two years residency training in Haematology NOTE: OUT OF 03 YEARS TRAINING, 01 YEAR TRAINING MUST BE AFTER FCPS I III-B FOUR YEARS TRAINING PROGRAM :- Cidates who have passed FCPS Part I in January 2005 onwards will require certificates of :- a) Three years residency training in the respective subject b) One year academic course Four years residency training in the respective subject a) Out of 04 years training, cidates having MD/MS of DU, BSMMU in January 2005 onwards will require one year training after having those qualifications. They have to enroll with BCPS for training. They will get 02 years training exemption from 04 years training in respective speciality. Above mentioned Diploma/ degree must be recognized by Bangladesh Medical Dental Council (BMDC). a) Medicine ( with course ):- i) Three years residency training in Medicine Two & a half years residency training in Medicine & six months residency training in any one of the sub-specialities as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) Two years residency training in Medicine one year residency training in any of the two of the subspecialities (six months in each) as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) One a half years residency training in Medicine one a half years residency training in any of the three sub-specialities (six months in each) as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i). b) Medicine (without course) :- Four years residency training in Medicine Three & a half years residency training in Medicine six months in any of the sub-specialities as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) Three years residency training in Medicine one year residency training in any two of the subspecialities (six month in each) as mentioned in clause IIIAa (i) 5

Exceptions:- 1. In case of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation i) Three years residency training in Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Two & half year s residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Six months residency training in Medicine/Surgery/thopaedic Surgery/Neurology/Neuro Surgery/ Obstetrics & Gynaecology/ Paediatrics 2. In case of Dermatology & Venereology ii) Two years residency training in Dermatology & Venereology It is noted that DDV qualified cidates from any university recognized by BMDC BCPS will get six months training exemption from the total part of training in Dermatology & Venereology. i 3. Guideline for Dissertation Submission:- (a) Acceptance of dissertation will be considered as a prerequisite for appearing in the examination. (b) Three hard copies & one soft copy of dissertation must be submitted. (c) The cidates who have passed FCPS-I examination before July 2010, have to submit the dissertation at least 3 months before the date of examination who have passed FCPS-I in July 2010 onward will have to submit the dissertation 06 months before the date of exam. An attested copy of the letter showing that his/her dissertation has been accepted by the College must be submitted. Same rules will be applicable for MD, MS (D.U. & BSMMU) qualified cidates. (d) Dissertation/Thesis which is already accepted for any other post-graduate qualification will not be considered. D. For FCPS (Sub-speciality) Examinations in 25 Specialized subjects:- 1. Rules for eligibility:- i) Those who have passed FCPS Part - I examination in the relevant specialty Preliminary FCPS II examination in relevant general subject. ii) Those who have successfully completed 03 years training in relevant sub-speciality of Surgery, Medicine, Paediatrics Obstetrics & Gynaecology from the hospital/institute recognized by BCPS. Out of 03 years training, 02 years training must be taken after passing Preliminary FCPS II examination. Remaining one year training may be taken before passing Preliminary FCPS II examination. iii) (a) Cidates having FCPS in relevant general subjects MD, MS in relevant general subjects sub-speciality (D.U./ BSMMU) will directly enter into speciality training of 03 years (i.e. they will get exemption from appearing in FCPS I Preliminary FCPS II examination). The MD/MS degree must be recognized by Bangladesh Medical Dental Council (BMDC). Before starting training they will have to enrol with BCPS as trainee. (b) Those who have completed 3 years training in relevant sub-speciality of Surgery, Medicine, Paediatrics Obstetrics & Gynaecology after passing FCPS in respective parent subjects MD/MS (D.U./BSMMU) in relevant speciality. iv) (a) A dissertation / thesis prepared during the specialty training period accepted by the appropriate authority recognized by BCPS. (b) Passing of the dissertation/thesis will be considered as a prerequisite for appearing in the final examination. (c) Dissertation/Thesis is to be submitted at least 3 months before the date of examination (For the cidates who passed FCPS-I examination before July, 2010) at least 06 months before the examination (For the cidates who passed FCPS-I examination before July, 2010). A soft copy of dissertation/thesis must be submitted along with 3 hard copies. (d) The FCPS MD, MS qualified (D.U. BSMMU) cidates will have to do a Thesis/dissertation as per BCPS rules. N. B. :- (1) Dissertation/Thesis which is already accepted for any other post-graduate qualification will not be considered. (2) It is to be noted that attending the training programme on How to Write a Dissertation is not matory for the FCPS, MD, MS qualified cidates. 8

For MCPS Examination:- 1. Rules for eligibility: (i) Must have to be completed at least 4 years after graduation. (ii) One year residency training in the respective subject in an Institute/Hospital recognized by BCPS. Exceptions: - One year training format in (1) Dental Surgery (2) Family Medicine is as follows:- (1) Dental Surgery:- (a) One year training in any one of the following specialities of Dentistry:- (i) thodontic Dentofacial thopaedic (ii) Prosthodontics (iii) Conservative Dentistry (iv) al & Maxillofacial Surgery. (b) 06 months training in any two of the following specialities of Dentistry:- (i) thodontic Dentofacial thopaedic (ii) Prosthodontics (iii) Conservative Dentistry (iv) al & Maxillofacial Surgery. (2) Family Medicine:- Out of 01 (one) year training: (i) 06 months training in Medicine (ii) 06 months training in any one of the following subjects:- a) Surgery b) Obst. & Gynae c) Paediatrics. 2. Internship training will not be accepted in MCPS examination. Note: 1. A certificate of training for a period of less than 6 months at a time will not be accepted. 2. Requisite residency training academic course must be completed on or before 31 December, 2015. During submission of enrolment form the cidate will have to submit provisional training/course certificate to the effect that his/her training / course will be completed on 31 December, 2015. But they will have to submit final training/course completion certificate from the competent authority issued on or after 20 December, 2015. This certificate must be submitted by 23 December, 2015. Otherwise they will not get Admit Card for the examination. 3. Out of 4 years training, 01 year training must be in a paid post or must be completed 01 year FCPS II academic course in an institute recognized by BCPS. This will be effective for the cidate who passed FCPS I in July 2013 onward. 4. The Honorary training in District Sadar Hospital will not be accepted (with effect from January, 2010). 5. A cidate in FCPS-II (Final) examination can appear for a maximum of ten times within a period of seven years, whichever comes first. This rule has been come into effective from January, 2012 Examination. 6. For the cidates appearing in Surgery/Obstetrics & Gynaecology/ Ophthalmology /Otolaryngology who completed training before introduction of Logbook will have to submit a list of 100 operations performed/assisted by the cidate (as per proforma of the College) duly signed by the trainer & Countersigned by the Head of the Institute/Hospital recognized by BCPS. Out of 100 operations 25 should be major. 7. For the cidates appearing in Anaesthesiology who complete training before introducing of logbook, they must have to submit a Certificate of administering of at least 500 cases of Anaesthesia by the cidate duly signed by trainer & countersigned by Head of the Institute/Hospital recognized by BCPS a detailed list (in duplicate) of at least 100 case of Anaesthesia administered by the cidate of which 50 of major operations singed by the trainer & countersigned by the Head of the Institute/Hospital recognized by BCPS. 8. Doctors are requested to refrain from using FCPS part I or FCPS part II trainee etc. in their prescription pad, card or such. Using FCPS part I or FCPS part II trainee etc. without passing FCPS Final examination are liable to punitive action as per college rule. 9.
