SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS APPLYING FOR CENTRUM 1-YEAR FULL- TIME MBA PROGRAM Scholarship Overview The following document details the application procedure and requirements for the CENTRUM Full-time MBA partial scholarship program. CENTRUM is now offering scholarships to international professionals seeking a global competitive edge, who will be traveling from all around the world to study at CENTRUM Católica, Peru s number one business school. These scholarships pertain to international students enrolled in the Full-time MBA program initiating November, 2011. We are now accepting applications. Full-time MBA Program The CENTRUM full-time MBA is a program offered by CENTRUM Católica, the business school of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, which grants Magister en Admistración Estratégica de Empresas (MBA) and a certificate from Babson College, N 1 Business School in entrepreneurship worldwide. The program is composed of trimesters each one dedicated to Fundamentals, Developmentals and Integration respectively, carried out in 6 academic modules. The curricular structure of the program focuses on the following areas: Strategy, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Leadership and Integration. To graduate, the program requires that the students satisfactorily complete all of the courses and, in addition, present a final thesis. The full-time MBA program is taught by top academic professors, with professional experience in their specialized fields. The majority of the courses will be taught in the Spanish language, 9:30a.m. to 6:00pm Monday through Friday. The academic activities are carried out through a pragmatic methodology and modern practices of management, with established executive tools, in a practical environment, focusing on the realities that are present in today s business sector. This methodology is complemented with lecture presentations, textbooks, digital materials, discussions and debates of given topics, and resolving real and current cases. Additionally the students work in multidisciplinary groups which allow the students to increase their emotional intellect, through sharing different experiences and points of view.
It is necessary to highlight that the students to be awarded an academic scholarship must constantly demonstrate academic excellence. If a student fails a course, he or she will lose their partial scholarship. If that student would then like to continue their studies, he or she is expected to pay the full amount of the program. Additionally, if the student fails a second course, that student will be separated from the program. The students in the scholarship program are expected to maintain an accumulated grade average of or higher than 15 (on a 20-point scale). The XVII Full-time MBA program information: Start date: November 4 th, 2011 1 International trip to Babson College, USA for two weeks, dates to be determined Scholarships Granted The partial scholarships are offered only to students born outside of Peru, maintain their foreign nationality, and do not live permanently in Peru. The full tuition fee for the Full-time MBA program is S/. 60,000 2 (about USD $21,500) when financed through CENTRUM. Each partial student scholarship amounts to S/. 42,000 (about USD $15,000). The students granted this scholarship must pay the difference between the total tuition fee of the program and the scholarship, which totals S/. 18,000 (about USD $ 6,430), and can be financed in 12 monthly payments of S/. 1,500 (about USD $ 535). The tuition fees will cover all academic courses, books, and learning materials. The tuition does not include the costs of the following: Laptop (required). Transportation in Lima. Food. Medical Insurance. Accommodations. Visa and or passport processes. Each student will receive a letter from CENTRUM addressed to their home embassy or consulate, to assist in the visa process. The student must carry out the necessary procedures to obtain the visa. Personal spending in Lima. The scholarships are granted by CENTRUM Católica scholarship committee, on a merit basis. Admissions Requirements The scholarship candidates should comply with the following admissions requirements: How to Apply A bachelor degree or professional title authenticated by the University that issued it. A minimum age of 25 years old. Comply with an advanced level of Spanish. At least 3 years of professional work experience (not including pre-graduate internships). Demonstrate at least an intermediate level of English by passing the English entrance exam. Students whose first language is English or who have studied in English speaking countries are exempt from this exam. Complete satisfactorily the academic aptitude exam. A Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or equivalent standard test is a prerequisite for entry into the MBA Program. Nationality in any country excluding Peru. Pass with a satisfactory grade the CENTRUM aptitude exam (math/verbal). Personal interview. Acceptance into the Full-time MBA program. Copy of bachelor degree or professional title authenticated by the University that issued it. English Language Certificate (at least dominance of an intermediate level). This is not necessary for students whose first language is English or who have studied in English speaking countries. Resume (detailing at least 3 years of work experience apart from pre-graduate internships). When complete, the documents will be forwarded to the CENTRUM Admissions office for evaluation and selection of scholarship candidates. Applications are accepted under rolling admission. The last day to receive scholarship applications is September 1 st, 2011. Entrance Exam The application documents will be evaluated and CENTRUM will coordinate with the prospective students to schedule the entrance exam, which is will be followed by an interview. The entrance exam fee is USD$ 40 3. The entrance exam may be taken virtually. The interviews will be carried out via conference calls or in person at CENTRUM, depending on the needs of each prospective student. Upon receipt and review of application, CENTRUM will notify the student of information with regard to the entrance exam and the interview appointment. The interview will be in Spanish. The prospective scholarship students will be evaluated by the CENTRUM Católica Scholarship Committee and informed of the results. All decisions made by the committee are final. Some options are to live in the homes of current students or alumni of CENTRUM Católica, or in private apartments. The cost to live and dine with a family may range from US$ 350 to US $400 a month, whereas the cost of an apartment may range between US$ 350 to US$ 500 a month, depending on the students preferences. The students are also expected to cover their own transportation and medical insurance costs, which can reach to a reach up to US$ 160 to $200 monthly. Student Visa In order to study in Lima, Peru, it will be necessary that foreigners obtain a student visa. This procedure can be carried out in the Peruvian consulate located the student s country of residence.
