MOVING TOWARDS APA ACCREDITATION Up to recently, APA accreditation was optional Standards have changed such that APA accreditation will be mandatory for any site offering a doctoral-level internship Proposed year of compliance is 2021 3-5 year process Diagnostic Center must commence this process no later than 2018 with preferred application by 2016
Challenges to APA accreditation Domain of Physical Facilities and Resources Our physical building poses barrier to accreditation 3 interns in an 11X8 foot office Adjoining wall partition does not provide sufficient confidentiality to clients No designated treatment rooms No designated psychological testing center
Intern Office Rooms partition off to create more space but this creates confidentiality concerns Space heaters are used in every room 8 X 11 space
No centralized location for over 100 psychological instruments
OVERCROWDING Status of our facility has outlived its life expectancy Only 1 treatment room to be shared for assessment/therapy
Building Maintenance Issues Evicted from building b/c of flooding Air/heat has been chronic issue Space heaters in every office Water quality is poor Kitchen and bathroom water is yellow Carbon monoxide poisoning 3 Staff were diagnosed with CO2 poisoning January 2014
