Security Services provides surveillance, patrol, badging and code response to all UCSF campuses on a 24/7 basis. Security Services can be reached at (415) 885-7890. 32
Safety and Security Tips General Be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity to UCSF Medical Center Security Services immediately. If you are interested in department-specific security training, please contact security services. Phone: (415) 885-7890 Lost and Found will be located in the Security offices near the Children s Emergency Department in C1913. Badges Wear your ID badge at all times above your waist and report to security immediately if you lose your badge. Report to security if you need a temporary ID badge. All families and visitors must have a visible visitor badge at all times please refer visitors without a badge to an information desk. Check secured doors after entry to ensure no one without a badge is passing through with badged personnel. For the security of patients and their families, please direct visitors without a badge to an information desk for the security of our patients. Smoke-Free As a nationally recognized health care institution, UCSF Benioff Children s Hospital and UCSF Medical Center are smoke-free. Smoking in and around the hospital premises and affiliated sites is prohibited. Outdoor smoking areas at the medical center have been eliminated. 33
Emergency, Safety and Security at Mission Bay (cont.) Emergency Management Emergency Management, part of Facilities and Support Services, focuses on the four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. Medical Center-Wide Emergency When an emergency incident/event occurs affecting the majority of the medical center (e.g., earthquake), you may learn of the event online; through television, radio or word of mouth; or by witnessing the incident. Report back to your supervisor or contact the administrator on call (AOC). Your Role and Responsibilities Department Manager/Supervisor or Charge Nurse: The person in charge who is responsible for ensuring their department responds adequately to a disaster by providing necessary orientation and training. Should review hospital-wide disaster-specific plans with their staff and develop an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for their department. Staff: Responsible for maintaining business continuity or to function outside their day-to-day role in a specific emergency role function designated at the discretion of the department manager supervisor or charge nurse prior to or during an emergency. Response Hospital Incident Command System (HICS): Developed by the U.S. Federal Government and subsequently implemented and adopted by state, tribal and local governments, HICS is an emergency management system that employs a logical management structure, defined responsibilities, clear reporting channels and a common nomenclature to help unify UCSF Medical Center in its emergency response along with other hospitals and community emergency responders. 34

General Information Building Access The entrances to UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay are open around the clock. Staff can access the hospitals via the Third Street entrance with an employee badge 24 hours a day. The Gateway Medical Building is accessible during business hours only. Security access will be granted based on your role. Staffed information desks will be located in the lobbies with hours subject to change. The Emergency Department will be predominantly pediatric; however staff will be trained to expect and manage incidental adult emergencies. 36
Health Information Services - Medical Records Health Information Services is located on the first floor near the adult lobby and will continue the practice of providing quality and costeffective services with an emphasis on providing ready access to patient medical records. Patient records must be requested through this department please direct patients to Medical Records if you receive a request for records. Language Access at Mission Bay The Interpreting Services division provides language access via the following modes: On Site Interpreting: In-patient and Out-patient ASL On-Site Interpreting Video Medical Interpreting (Out-patient setting only) Telephonic Interpreting Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and we are located in GMB 1. We provide interpretations in (4) in-house languages: Russian, Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese. In addition, our service provides interpretation in other languages upon request. To support our in-patient needs for our Pediatric and Adult Spanish patient population, our interpreters provide language access support services to our providers and LEP patient population Monday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to Midnight. Resources for Patients and Families Art for Recovery This award-winning program gives individuals coping with life-threatening illness an opportunity to express themselves through art workshops, visits at the bedside and individual attention. Art for Recovery is located on the fifth floor lobby of the UCSF Betty Irene Moore Women s Hospital and the UCSF Bakar Cancer Hospital. Phone: (415) 476-4568 Ida & Joseph Friend Cancer Resource Center The center supports wellness and healing by providing patients and their loved ones with information, emotional support, and community resources. The center is located on the fourth floor of the Gateway Medical Building. Phone: (415) 885-3693 Women s Health Resource Center - Great Expectations The Great Expectations pregnancy program offers women who are pregnant, planning to be pregnant, or lactating, a variety of resources on topics ranging from conception to birth and breastfeeding to parenting. Great Expectations is located on the third floor lobby of the UCSF Betty Irene Moore Women s Hospital. Phone: (415) 514-2670 Center for Families The Center for Families offers a library of information and resources about health, illness and coping with hospitalization. The center also provides information on activities and support events for parents at the hospital. The Center for Families is located on the sixth floor of UCSF Benioff Children s Hospital. Phone: (415) 353-1410 Spiritual Care Services The main office for Spiritual Care Services is located on the first floor, near the children s hospital entrance, in C1405, next to the main Meditation Room and garden. Smaller meditation rooms are located adjacent to the adult lobbies on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors. Meditation rooms are available for reflection, meditation, prayer and spiritual practice from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. For questions regarding the meditation rooms, or to request use of the rooms for an event, please contact Spiritual Care Services at (415) 514-4200. 38
Spiritual Care Services (cont.) To reach Spiritual Care Services during business hours, and for routine requests, please call (415) 514-4200. To reach an on-call chaplain at Mission Bay 24 hours a day, seven days a week, please page (415) 443-5786. Spiritual Care Services can also be reached via the Voalte system, under the Spiritual Care Services Department directory. Support Services Call Center The new Support Services Help Desk is a one-stop resource designed to allow caregivers to efficiently acquire the goods and services needed to provide excellent patient care. Requests to any of the support departments can be made 24/7 by submitting a ticket via the Web portal at SSHelp.UCSF.edu or by following the link on CareLinks to the Support Services Help Desk. In the event that a computer is not readily available, staff may also dial HELP-0 (4357-0) from any hospital phone. This number directs staff to a phone tree allowing callers to choose a number to be connected directly with the desired support department. General Information (cont.) Oneview Tip Card How do I access the Oneview Treatment Team Console? There are two ways to log in to the Oneview Treatment Team Console: Click the link in the Activities column in the patient s chart through APeX titled Oneview. Log in through Oneview icon at the top of your screen. How do I mark patients questions as addressed in Oneview? Patient or clinician opens the Questions section from the tablet or pillow speaker. Locate the specific question. The patient or clinician can select the Discussed button. How do I update the Treatment Team section? From the Patient List in APeX, right click on the patient and select Treatment Team Click Add Me If applicable, add an end date and time to remove yourself at shift end. Any patients you are on the Treatment Team for will display upon logging in to the Treatment Team Console by default. How do I set up a telemedicine call with another clinician? Click Communications Select Telemedicine Advise the outside clinician of the number to call, located in the top right section of the screen. Accept the call by clicking Answer when they dial in. 42
Oneview Tip Card (cont.) How do I show my computer screen on patient s TV? IMPORTANT: Your entire screen will display on the TV. Click on the Screen Casting icon from the desktop. Select the correct room to cast to by confirming the patient name. Once selected, a pin will appear on the TV screen. Enter the pin from the screen to your computer and Accept. Click the red X at the top of the screen to close out your current session. How do I assign education or goals to a patient? Access the Treatment Team Console. Locate the patient to receive the assigned education or goal. Click the Edit button next to either Education or Goals. Use the Search field, type in a keyword to look for the material to assign. Select the goal/education from the left panel and click Add goals/ or education If the goal you would like to add is not available, the Add Personalized Goal on the right panel can be used to input custom goals. Meal ordering: The patient s diet order is received from APeX and used to determine what menu will display. Patients with no diet order or NPO will be advised they cannot order, whereas any patients with eating disorders will not see the tile at all. How do I update or change the Expected Discharge date on the Oneview screen? In APeX, update the Expected Discharge date located underneath the Admission section of the patient s chart. How do I reset the Parental Controls PIN? From the Treatment Team Console, select the appropriate patient. Select Remove Parental Controls from the Quick Links drop down at the top of the screen.
