Horowitz (Acting Chair) gave an update on the undergraduate program review schedule. The Physics and Therapeutic Recreation reviews are delayed until fall 2001. R. Weber will replace C. Smith as a member of the Social Work review committee. The following reviews are scheduled for the May 8 th meeting: Architectural Studies, Inter-Arts, Nursing, Psychology and Social Work. B. K. Barber announced that the May 8 th meeting will take place in the Regents Room after all since the painting of the room has been delayed. C. S. Kim reported that about a dozen members of the UWM community have responded to the call for suggestions regarding the possible amendment of the Minority Cultural Diversity requirement. Since these comments are quite diverse, he felt that the deliberation of the amendment would require some time. Therefore, the issues will be taken up by the GER/CD subcommittee in the beginning of the next semester, and the comments will be taken into account when the subcommittee convenes. 3. Approval of Agenda: Automatic Consent. A. Horowitz (Acting Chair) asked to have agenda item F.1. moved to item 6.E. under new business. The agenda was declared approved as amended. A. The report was UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. B. Holme moved to approve the proposal; D. Buechler seconded the motion. The proposal was UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. C. Proposal from the School of the Arts for Changes to the Art Major - web form #213 http://www.des.uwm.edu/intranet/opc/viewform.cfm?formid=213 J. Merrick moved to approve the proposal; J. Lilly seconded the motion. A. Horowitz stated he has a problem with the wording in 5 A and B stating a grade of C. The suggestion was made that changing the wording to less than a B- in both places would be better. S. Falco moved to amend the proposal with the new wording; S. Emmons seconded the motion. The amendment and the motion to approve were UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. D. Report from GER Subcommittee on Proposal to Revise GER/CD Requirements. S. Kim moved to approve the proposal; J. Merrick seconded the motion. It was noted that the motion to approve consists only of Item 1 listed which would decouple cultural diversity from the distribution requirements. Item 2 is only meant to represent the sense of the committee on an implementation issue." Only item 1 will go to the Faculty Senate for approval. The motion was UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. E. Such broad requirements may open pathways for students that do not meet the intent of this technical elective requirement. T. Holme moved to approve the proposal; D. Buechler seconded the motion.
