KAISER PERMANENTE NATIONAL NURSING RECOGNITION PROGRAM

Dear Colleagues, Welcome to Kaiser Permanente s National Nursing Recognition Program. This program complements existing regional recognition programs and is designed to recognize and honor our nurses who demonstrate all six of the Kaiser Permanente nursing values: professionalism, patient and family centric, compassion, teamwork, excellence, and integrity. We are well into our journey to delivering Extraordinary Nursing Care Every Patient Every Time, and this National Nursing Recognition Program celebrates embedding the vision and values into everything we do. As each of us takes bold action to be the best health care system in the nation, it is important that the Kaiser Permanente nursing vision and values stay front and center during every encounter with our patients, their family, and each other. This will require all 48,000-plus of us to work individually and collectively to achieve that important goal. The National Nursing Recognition Program is designed to acknowledge the wonderful work Kaiser Permanente nurses are doing in all seven regions and across the continuum of care. It is named the Kaiser Permanente Extraordinary Nurse Award. Our vision and values define both who we are as a profession and our important contribution to achieving the Kaiser Permanente mission. Our patients and members are counting on it. This program recognizes and honors those nurses who best exemplify the nursing vision and values. One more step to creating a culture of extraordinary nursing care at Kaiser Permanente. Warm regards, Marilyn P. Chow, RN, PhD, FAAN Vice President, National Patient Care Services

Each region will determine what group/council will give final approval of the candidates that will be forwarded to the National Nursing Leadership Council for consideration. All candidate information will be presented uniformly and personal data hidden. Points will be awarded to each nominee, and the nominees with the highest scores will receive the Kaiser Permanente National Nursing Recognition Award. Award Process Each award winner will be notified in February and arrangements will be made for them to attend the March NNLC meeting and leadership conference where they will be recognized. These nurses will then be recognized by their regional and local leadership during National Nurses Week. Communications All information and materials will be sent to their respective regions to assist in the communication of their award winners. Each service/facility is encouraged to contact their local public affairs group to have their ceremony and awardees included in local communication publications. Interviews and photo opportunities will occur during their recognition in March to be used in publicizing our awardees nationally, regionally and locally. This will be coordinated by Brand Communication. Nominees and award winners will be featured on the Nursing Pathways website and the Labor Management Partnership (LMP) website.
