A. General Description of Program The graduate programs of the School of Business offer learning opportunities to enhance the development of competent, responsible professionals in business, government and other not-for-profit administration. The MBA OnLine Degree Program is offered in cooperation with seven other schools of the University of Texas System. Students in the MBA OnLine Program complete all coursework via the Internet. Taught by leading faculty at the participating institutions, this innovative program gives students who must travel for work or are remote from a UT campus the opportunity to attain a graduate business education. Students applying for this program through UT-Brownsville will receive their degree from UT-Brownsville. The Program of Study is not the same as the On-Campus MBA Program, and courses are not necessarily interchangeable. B. MBA OnLine Degree Program Admission Process Admission standards for admission to the MBA OnLine Program are the same as for the On-Campus MBA Degree Program. C. MBA OnLine Degree Programs The MBA Online (MBAO) program provides today's students with the tools necessary to become leaders in the workplace of tomorrow. The MBAO pools the impressive resources and diverse perspectives of accredited University of Texas System institutions. Students will find a highly skilled, statewide team of professors presenting an interactive curriculum. The program offers the choice of a general management degree, but also offers an option of three finance courses as electives. General Management Degree General Management Degree with Finance Emphasis All of the participating UT System universities are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. UT Arlington, UT Dallas, UT El Paso, UT Pan American, UT Permian Basin, UT San
Antonio, and UT Tyler are also accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.) 1. GENERAL MANAGEMENT DEGREE The MBA Online program in General Management pools the impressive resources and diverse perspectives of eight accredited University of Texas System institutions. Six institutions confer the degree upon successful completion of studies. Students will find a highly skilled, statewide team of professors presenting a broad, interactive curriculum. Areas of study in this collaborative General Management degree include accounting, finance, administration, business law, economics, marketing, statistics and technology. Courses are designed for a clear understanding of a marketplace that has become increasingly complex with the addition of new technologies and communication tools. Forty-eight semester credit hours are required to complete the degree plan. Students must take at least two courses from their home campuses. Based on course load, students may complete the program in as little as two years or as many as six. GENERAL MANAGEMENT DEGREE WITH FINANCE EMPHASIS The MBA Online program with elective courses in finance combines high-quality core curriculum with specialized finance courses to ensure relevancy in today s business world. A focus on finance helps students learn how to optimize and add value to an organization's financial management. Students can benefit by acquiring a better understanding of the fundamentals of exchange rates, including currency risk management, which will improve their ability to make sound financial decisions in their role as managers. In particular, students seeking a career as a financial analyst, corporate finance manager, investor relations manager, financial consultant, or portfolio manager would have a competitive advantage by earning this concentration.
