Being the leading research institution in the field of economic studies in Poland, the Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is entitled to run doctoral programs and award doctoral degrees to those who have completed them. The DBA Program is carried out as a parttime two-year professional doctorate program. It consists of four modules, which equal eight weeks (one module per academic semester, two separate weeks per module). The first two modules within the first year will be held by SIBE lecturers in Germany (Stuttgart and Berlin). The third and the fourth module will be held in Warsaw, Poland. Having finished the Program, the participant earns the degree of Doctor of Business Administration and receives a DBA certificate of completion of doctoral studies and a Doctor of Business Administration diploma. For those who show inclination for in-depth scientific study and research there is a possibility of continuing education (for two three extra years) which results in writing (under supervision of a chosen professor) a PhD dissertation and defending it. When the students finish their DBA studies they all have the right of defending their PhD dissertation at INE PAN once they submit a 200-page thesis, pass three exams and publicly defend their dissertation. The DBA studies should enable the students to open the PhD defense procedure by, apart from teaching them, helping them preparing a PhD proposal (the final DBA research paper may be such a proposal). These additional studies allow one to earn the PhD degree in economics from the Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The DBA Program welcomes candidates who are interested in conducting some original research project in the field of business, management, finance, or international trade. In contrast to master of business administration programs, doctor of business administration programs lay stress on applying the gained knowledge and skills through carrying out an independent research project on a methodologically rigorous basis. Our DBA Program has an edge over other similar programs in that we nurture, encourage and develop participants competences of problem-solving, cause-effect analysis, and strategic planning. We expect our graduates not only to proudly join international associations of DBA holders, or critically reflect upon their own business experience, but also enter a qualitatively new level of understanding of difficulties at their workplaces and have enough intellectual courage and acumen to see how these may be resolved.
Structure of the DBA Program We warmly welcome applications from graduates from SIBE Master-Programs. We realize only too well that these people are busy and have tight schedules. To allow them to fulfill their dreams about earning a DBA degree we designed our Executive Doctor of Business Administration Program in the least troublesome and most efficient way possible for our candidates. The Program consists of two years of studies divided into four semesters. One semester equals one module and includes two separate seminar weeks. Each week lasts for five days. At the end of the last fourth module a program participant is supposed to present a 15-page research paper, which may constitute the proposal for the PhD dissertation. The grade received for the research paper will figure on the final diploma. SIBE lecturers will coach the participants throughout the DBA program. Those who intend to continue into the PhD studies will use their research papers as drafts of their PhD theses. During the two years of studies our DBA Program will cover many fascinating topics and themes. Here is a list of them: Statistical Analysis Entrepreneurship Innovation and Growth Business Negotiations Change Management Organizational Behavior International Human Resource Management Financial Markets and Institutions Economic Policy Corporate Finance Business Law Decision Making Project Management Leadership Marketing: Theory and Practice Finance in Theory and Practice Managerial Economics Strategic Thinking Strategic Management International Business Culture and Communication
Which course finds itself in a given module is decided at the beginning of the semester. All the courses involve homework and distance learning. DBA participants stay in regular contact with their lecturers. The structure of the Program allows for flexibility and for direct application of knowledge and skills, gained during modules, at work. You do not come to us to learn more, you come to overhaul your entire approach to doing business, to revise your fundamental principles regarding economic management, and find out how you can realize your new insights in practice, winning other people to your side. In the second year INE PAN also runs a special cultural program for DBA participants. The participation in the cultural program is not obligatory. It is just great fun! The purpose of the cultural program is two-fold. The program introduces the participants, especially international ones, to the history and cultural heritage of the Polish people. It also serves as a catalyst for helping participants get to know each other. In practice a typical module looks like that: Wednesday: Thursday: Friday: Saturday: Sunday: AM: participant arrivals PM: classes, module welcome dinner classes, cultural program classes classes classes and departures The cultural program will respond to the interests of DBA participants and will feature what most participants find fascinating. What participants will do within the cultural program during a given module will be announced at the module welcome dinner. Welcome dinners and cultural program events are bonuses that INE PAN provides you with without charging extra money. They are significant elements of our Program and make the latter more rewarding and valuable.

After being accepted you are asked to pay the entire program tuition fee which amounts to 14.000 EUR or just the first installment (you may pay in four installments of 3.500 EUR each, payments are due before each semester). Payments can be made by bank transfer in Euro (EUR). Compared to other Doctor of Business Administration programs, our DBA Program has quite competitive fees. The fact that it is not expensive does not in the least compromise the high quality and status of our Program. The resources, connections, and prestige of the Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and SIBE make it possible to offer an affordable DBA program holding the levels of instruction and participant satisfaction well above the average. Travel and accommodation expenses are covered by participants themselves. SIBE and INE PAN actively help organize participants arrival and stay in Germany and Poland.
