Yes, these changes impact ALL existing Go Green checking accounts, effective January 1, 2015.
How can I maximize my GO Green interest? You can maximize your GO Green interest by fulfilling the account activity criteria, enrolling in estatements, and maintaining the required deposit and/or loan balances to earn the higher tiered bonus rates. If you don t currently maintain the balance levels here at NEFCU, consider refinancing your loans and transferring deposits from other institutions to us. We can help you save money on your loans and earn more on your deposits when you move your accounts to NEFCU. What types of accounts can help me meet the loan/deposit balance qualifications? If you are the primary owner of the GO Green account (primary owner is defined for this purpose as the owner whose tax ID number is selected for reporting purposes), all types of consumer deposit and loan accounts will count toward your total balance qualification as long as you are the primary or joint owner/borrower on the accounts. Also, share secured and secured visa products will count toward the deposit balance, but NOT the loan balance qualification. Which debit card transactions count towards the $250? All non-atm VISA Debit transactions will count. These include POS (Point-of-Sale) transactions as well as Signature-based transactions. Debit card returns/credits count against the $250 required. When do I receive my ATM rebates? As long as you meet the account activity criteria for the Go Green Account, you ll receive up to $15 on the last day of that month. If I meet the account activity criteria for my GO Green account, what rate will I receive on balances over $25,000? All Consumer, Real Estate, and Line of Credit balances are calculated based on the average daily balance over the course of the month (excluding payments or advances posted after hours on the last business day of the month) All Credit Card balances are calculated based on month end balance (excluding payments or advances posted after hours on the 2nd to last business day of the month) Student Loan balances are calculated based on the outstanding balance as of the 15th of the month Share Secured and Secured Visa do not count toward loan balance qualifications, but will count as a deposit
What happens if I don t meet the minimum account activity criteria? As in the past, if the account activity criteria are not met, you will forfeit your ATM rebates and bonus interest on balances up to $25,000. You will continue to earn a competitive rate on balances over $25,000. Will the interest rate change automatically if the activity/balances change? Yes, the tier your GO Green account qualifies for can change each month, depending upon your GO Green account activity and outstanding balances at month end. I currently have $40,000 in loans/line of credit balances at NEFCU. What happens to my bonus interest rate when my loan balances fall below $25,000? Since your bonus rate for these loans is based on your aggregate average balance, you ll still receive the bonus rate if the average is $25,000 or more for that month, otherwise you may qualify for either the tier 1 or tier 2 bonus rate based on the aggregate deposit and loan balances you maintain at that time. Please keep in mind that you must also meet the basic account requirements to qualify for any bonus interest.
