There are multiple aspects of Iraqi - Germany cooperation in the field of higher education, there are memoranda of understanding, agreements and twinning programs with German bodies, universities, colleges and institutes and companies which can be summarized as follows: Centre of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / 3 memoranda of understanding. Baghdad University / 9 agreements and twinning program. Karbala University / two memoranda of understanding. Basra University / one memorandum of understanding. Babylon University of / one memorandum of understanding. Maysan University / one memorandum of understanding.
In addition to the above there are a number of Iraqi students officially registered as learners in the Federal Republic of Germany, as follows: Fellowships / 176 students. Study at private expense / 35 students. Vacations seminar / 16 students. Scholarship / 11 students. Making a total of 238 students. Ministry of Higher Education works in coordination with the cultural attaché in Berlin and joint meetings with the German side on the expansion and activation of all scientific fields and opportunities available, as well as reconstruction projects through cooperation with German companies.
Foundation of Technical Education (FTE)
First: - About the Foundation of Technical Education Foundation of Technical Education reflects a path privacy in higher education to its direct association with the movement and development of society through the creation of a task force at different technical levels are eligible and able to deal with the rapid technological developments in the fields of science and application. FTE undertakes the technical education in this type of education since its inception and so far in the five main disciplines (health and medical, engineering, administrative, agricultural, and applied arts) and this is a abstract about the Foundation: -
(1969) established the name (Technical Institutes Foundation) and included five institutes. (1993) have been developing technical colleges to grant a Bachelor certificate. (1994) Evening Studies was introduced in some colleges and institutes. (2000) was introduced postgraduate higher diploma programs and masters. (2001) the name was changed to (Foundation of Technical Education). (2010) was introduced two Ph.D. programs in two technical colleges.
Second: - Statistical information 2011/2012 Number of technical colleges (16). Number of technical institutes (28). Number of preliminary studies students in colleges and institutes (67000). Number of students in the graduate (298). Number of faculty members (3941). Number of technical professionals (7504). Number of administrative officers (2321).
Third: - The site of FTE between Iraqi universities FTE ranked first in the number of students candidates for admission where the number of students candidates for higher education in Iraq in the academic year 2011/2012 were accepted (34%) of those students, followed by the University of Baghdad (10%), then the University of Mosul by(8%), and this percentage rose to about (40%) this year, which clearly reflects the importance of technical education in Iraq.
Fourth: - Graduate The number of graduate programs are (19) programs, divided into (6) technical colleges (2) a PhD program, (12) Master programs and (5) higher diploma programs in engineering disciplines, agricultural, medical and management. The number of students admitted in the academic year [2011/2012] (157) students Distributors by (8) of the programs of doctoral and (104) for master's programs and (45) of programs Higher Diploma, and the number of students graduating in the same year stood at (106) graduates, (89) of them for master's programs and (17) a student of higher Diploma programs.
Fifth: - Research Units The FTE has eight research units in various disciplines conducts research and consultancy, and these units are: - - Cotton Research Unit / 1988. - Processing Research Unit medical alternatives / 1997. - Research Unit maize / 2000. - Quality Research Unit / 2005. - Environmental Pollution Research Unit / 2007. - Research Unit saline soils and desertification / 2009. - Alternative energy research unit 2010 /. - Research Unit of new and renewable energy / 2010.
Foundation of Technical Education Cooperation With the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Collaboration began in 2004 by training of personnel in Egypt (156 courses involving 2065 trainees) with the support of the GIZ and this cooperation continues until now, and aspects of the current cooperation: 1. Generation Office for the Coordination Agency in Iraq. 2. Exchange of delegations between the two sides. 3. Establish conferences, one was held last month in Erbil, conference entitled "Towards a social market economy in Iraq."
4. Continue to set up specialized courses in several areas, including: - Training of Trainers. - The development of cadres working in the field of quality education. - Development of the Angels, which will conduct studies on the needs of the labor market. - The preparation and development of curricula. 5. Support the reform process in the sector of training and technical vocational education (TVET). 6. Support and enhance the level of conditioning training in collaboration with employers. 7. Interest in the development of FTE cadres development center, which is one of the largest training centers in Iraq.
