ISAAC BEAR EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY APPLICATION Dear Student: Congratulations! Your unweighted cumulative grade point average calculated after this past semester is 3.2 or higher. That makes you eligible for consideration for membership in the Isaac Bear Early College of the National Honor Society. Membership in the National Honor Society is based on a student s exhibiting and maintaining high standards in four areas: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. You have already shown your academic excellence, which is the first step in being considered for membership in this prestigious organization. A faculty council will evaluate all eligible students who apply for membership on the other three traits of the National Honor Society. In order to become a member, you must follow the process below: Complete the attached Student Information packet. Any clubs or activities need to be signed off by the sponsor or coach to verify your participation in the activity. Parents may not sign off for participation in activities. If you do not receive signatures verifying information on your form, that information will not be used by the selection committee. If there is some reason that you cannot receive adult verification then please make a note about it in place of the teacher/adult signature. Ask three of your IBEC High School teachers to fill out the Recommendation Forms that are included in the packet. Have your teachers return the form directly to Dr. Bennett-Smith by the deadline March 18, 2011. Recommendations need to be made by teachers from this academic year (unless you are a junior) and they must be turned in by the teacher to Dr. Bennett-Smith. Candidates may not handle the Recommendation Forms after they have been filled out. An invitation to become a member does not guarantee selection to National Honor Society. Candidates must follow the process and be selected by the committee. Thank you for your interest in National Honor Society. Good Luck! Sincerely, The Selection Committee Forms for membership will be accepted until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012. Please turn in the forms to Dr. Bennett- Smith. ***LATE FORMS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR MEMBERSHIP***
