Position Title: Group/Division/Team Network Engineer Business Technology Services / IT Operations Division Date October 2011 Reports to Roles Reporting to This Primary Objective Decision Making Authority Manager Technical Services None The position is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and the administration, management, operation and enhancement of YVW s WAN and LAN network and IT systems on a day to day basis including CISCO Network Infrastructure, Avaya PABX servers, F5 BIGIP traffic managers, Web Content Filtering, Packet Shaping, Remote Access Servers and Checkpoint Firewall and IPS Servers. This position is permitted to enter the Company into contractual commitments pertaining to this role (e.g. IT service contracts) where the approval and the anticipated amount(s) is/are within the authorisation limits applicable at the time. Knowledge/Experience Requirements Technical Competencies Personal Competencies Tertiary qualified in IT or in a business related discipline which must include specific studies in relation to Information Technology. (Mandatory) 8+ years Network Engineer experience in a Production environment with team leader experience. (Mandatory) CISCO CCNA Certification (Mandatory), CCNP or CCIE Highly Desirable. Design and build network for remote sites or for project based environments Manage and maintain Remote access software Organise or undertake network penetration testing Manage YVW s networking software & hardware asset Inventory. Perform Bandwidth management: including growth and quality of service Undertake addressing and naming services maintenance Maintain records of network and security assets, licenses, diagrams and configuration records. Maintain and improve systems availability Review Incident Logs Investigate & resolve escalated incidents and problems, within agreed timescales, ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed on progress Undertake Problem Management for the network and associated systems, ensure that known issues and workarounds are documented and input into the Known Error Database Prepare Incident Reviews and implement any recommendations Act as a point of contact and technical authority responsible for providing technical consultancy to project delivery and development teams, procurement, service design and change management teams Design and implement new networks and security systems according to requirements Provide technical expertise to project teams throughout the lifecycle of a project from design to implementation Work with project & service delivery teams responsible for the commissioning and acceptance ensuring new installations/services are fit for purpose, supportable, and are built against agreed specification and installation standards Manage and deliver projects as identified and agreed with the Systems & Business Owner Establish an application's security measures during development Undertake or organise network security testing for each application. Mentor staff to improve the capabilities and usefulness of the IT Operations team. Maintain service levels between 7am to 6pm week days, during planned after hours work, leave, and holidays by sharing work with a nominated team member. Provide both Service Desk and Technical support as required Provide On Call Support on a Roster Attend meetings as required Work both independently as well as part of a team to ensure that work gets completed.
