Housing Prices 2015 ELS housing is optional at an extra cost for students studying in any ELS program. THE PRICES AND DETAILS BELOW ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. August 29, 2014 Dear Partner, It s that time of year again! As another busy summer comes to an end we turn our attention to the next year. I am pleased to provide you with a 2015 Price List and Session Calendar for ELS Canada. Tuition for regular adult programs (English for Academic Purposes, General English, Semi Intensive English) is increasing by 2%; this is our first tuition increase since the beginning of 2013. We are also increasing our Intensive English for Professionals by 5%; the first increase for these programs in over five years. Homestay prices have also increased slightly - $10 per session - due to the ever rising cost of living. You will find that ELS Canada continues to offer a range of different homestay options, including a choice of travel times (Zone 1 and Zone 2), meals plans (half board and full board), and other options, all competitively priced. Our Notarized Guardianship Letter Fee has also increased to $75. Deadline for current regular, adult program 2014 prices: Student Starting Application Received Price to use In 2014 Any time before Dec 31, 14 2014 for the complete program as long as the student prepays in full for both tuition and homestay.* In 2015 Any time before Oct 31, 14 2014 for the complete program as long as the student prepays in full for both tuition and homestay.* In 2015 On or after Nov 1, 14 2015 * students who register for longer durations, but then decide on arrival to pay month-by-month, either directly or through their agency, will be charged the 2015 prices from Jan 1 onwards for both tuition and homestay. The host family will prepare dinner each night; students may be required to prepare their own breakfast and bag lunch for school. Half Board includes breakfast and dinner only. Again the host family will prepare dinner each night; students may be required to prepare their own breakfast. Location In Vancouver, our Zone 2 homestays are located 45-60 minutes from the Center by public transit, and Zone 1 Homestays are 30-45 minutes from the Center; therefore there is a surcharge for the Zone 1 location. In Toronto, our Zone 2 Homestays are located 45-60 minutes from the Center by public transit, and Zone 1 Homestays are 30-45 minutes from the Center. In both cases, we calculate the commuting time following the posted transit schedules in each city, plus additional walking time where necessary. Actual travel times may vary slightly on a day-to-day basis depending on factors beyond our control such as traffic or weather. Youth Student Surcharge As there is a greater degree of responsibility required in taking care of younger students, the above charge applies to any student 16-17 years old. If a student turns 18 during their stay with us, the adult rate will apply from the first full session following their 18 th birthday. Private Bathroom Students will have exclusive use of their own bathroom facilities, which will include a shower or bath. Guaranteed High Speed Internet Access Students will have Internet access (ie. wireless, cable or DSL). This service is only available for students bringing their own laptop or other wireless device. Any additional charges required due to non-compatibility issues are strictly the student s responsibility. Airport Pickup Service Students will be met at the airport by a representative of the Airport Pickup service (holding a sign with their name on it), who will take them to their new home and introduce them to their Homestay family. Pickup Service is only available for students with flights scheduled to arrive before 11pm. Airport Return Service Students will be picked up at their homestay and driven to the airport by our Airport Service. Typically, we plan for students to be at the airport 3 hours prior to their departure for international flights. Homestay Period Homestay fees are applied to a 4-week period. Students are welcome to arrive anytime on Saturday or Sunday before their program begins, and depart anytime on Saturday or Sunday after their program finishes. Early arrivals (before Saturday) and late departures (after Sunday) will be subject to a rate of CDN$35 per night. Payment of Homestay Fees A minimum of the first 4 weeks of Homestay rent must be prepaid in advance, along with the Placement Fee and Airport Pickup Fee (if requested). The remaining Homestay sessions rent may also be prepaid in advance, or they can be paid every session, directly to the school or homestay staff, at least 2 weeks before the beginning of the next session. Notarized Guardianship Letter some students aged 18 and under who will be entering Canada with a Study Permit may be required to have their parents appoint a Legal Guardian for them while in Canada. ELS Canada Center staff can perform this service, and we can provide a notarized Guardianship Letter, as long as the student is using our Homestay service. More information on when a Guardianship Letter is required can be found at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-minors.asp. An additional Courier Fee of $75 may be charged if the document needs to be sent by courier.

For that reason, we strongly recommend that students make every effort to begin their studies on a regular Start Date and study a minimum of four weeks. That way they will receive a full orientation and complete the full 4-week session. However, we recognize that students are not always able to arrange their travel around our schedule; therefore we will accept students for a minimum of two weeks, and they are able to begin their program on the second or third Monday of a session. Counseling representatives must inform these students that they are starting on an irregular date and that they will be joining classes that have already been together for a while and that they may not complete the full 4-week session. We do not accept new students in the fourth week of a session. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have about Start Dates and students beginning on irregular dates.
