College of Business The College of Business programs are designed to challenge students minds and help them explore new horizons and maximize their potential as responsible citizens. By joining the College of Business, you can participate in numerous activities including the Business Terms Quiz Competition, Good Practice Forum and Effat Business Students Association in addition to the Student Affairs annual events. The student who maintains healthy GPA can compete for the Queen Effat Citizenship Award and Dean s List. The Human Resources Management (HRM) program provides an in-depth study of the major concepts and tools in the theory and application of modern human resources techniques. Students will acquire knowledge and skills covering a range of human resources management functions including hiring and staffing, training and development, performance appraisal, and reward management. An emphasis will be placed on issues unique to the Middle East. As well, the impact of globalization and information technology on the human resources field will be addressed. At the department of Human Resources Management faculty members endeavor to nurture a supportive environment for learning and select cognitive techniques that challenge students to take an active and interactive role in the educational process. Leading international undergraduate business programs share the goal of educating the whole person. This demands that the educational experience not only prepare students for their first job, but also for a full career and thoughtful contributions to their families and society.

How will you learn? The mission of the Human Resources Management Department is to develop and deliver innovative human resources programs and services designed to support the mission of the University and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The program offering is dynamic and tailor made to the specific HR requirements, trends, and forecasts for the HR requirement in the Kingdom. The University excels in its core services and competencies including recruitment and staffing, employee relations, organizational and employee development, risk management, compensation and benefits, payroll, HR information management, and regulatory compliance.

What will you learn? Effat University aims to set standards of excellence in Human Resources Management and has created a curriculum to meet the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment s standards. Preparatory Program As the University s admission requires a healthy TOEFL score, therefore, a preparatory program is devised for the students who need assistance with English language and other areas. Student will gain study skills, a broad base of knowledge and become comfortable studying in English. You will become familiar with Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) an integral part of teaching and learning English. Once the preparatory period is over, you will begin your degree in earnest, completing courses from the remaining four study areas. General Education The general education program provides learners with skills for success in a variety of disciplines. Courses focus on specific areas: Written and Oral Communication; Technology Literacy; Mathematical, Scientific and Logical Reasoning; Interdisciplinary Studies; Research, Religion, Culture and Ethics; Careers and Professions; and Awareness of Physical Wellbeing. Core Courses Core courses are taken from numerous fields in business in order to ensure maximum exposure to a diverse range of subjects and broaden horizons of the students. The students complete 16 courses of 3 credits each.

Major Electives All the students pursuing this degree are required to complete five essential courses and then select another two from a list of electives to fulfill the degree requirements. Business Electives All students need to take two courses of 3 credit hours each from a list of business courses. Free Electives The free electives can be chosen from other majors and the number of courses could be between and 3 depending upon the credit hours of the courses chosen. Internship The internship is an integral part of the degree irrespective of concentration this element of your study will put knowledge into practice, building your vocational skills. Once you complete 90 credits, you can choose a real organization to get involved in its activities for a limited time. Your Internship should be supervised by a faculty member. Dissertation/Thesis All students must undertake a research project to earn 3 credits. The research will be conducted under the supervision of an allotted supervisor. It is carried out in the last semester of the degree program.

Demonstrate understanding of the domestic, regional, and global economic environments of organizations. Demonstrate knowledge of financial theories, analysis, and reporting. Explain the role of human resources management in organizations and society. Explain the concepts, models, frameworks, and tools for understanding human resources management functions. Explain the concepts, models, and frameworks for formulating and implementing human resources strategies and plans in organizations. Cognitive Skills: Student should be able to: Think critically and apply theoretical knowledge and practical experience to identification and analysis of business problems. Interpersonal Skills and Responsibility: Students should be able to: Demonstrate understanding of group and individual dynamics in organizations. Function effectively in teams. Deal effectively with people from diverse social, economic, and religious backgrounds. Demonstrate understanding of ethical, social and legal responsibilities of business organizations. Recognize and demonstrate sensitivity to legal and ethical issues relating to human resources management practices. Communication, information Technology and Numerical Skills: Students should be able to: Demonstrate understanding of various managerial decision-making tools. Communicate business ideas effectively both orally and in writing. Effectively utilize analytical and information systems in communicating business ideas. Solve basic HR case studies for strategic decision making in organizations. Critically analyze human resources problems and opportunities. Think strategically about appropriate courses of actions in response to specific human resources problems and concerns.
